Comments about Dell Inspiron 8100 Notebook PC:

This is great very fast one of my all time favorite laptops! Its one of the older inspiron modles but also not nearly the oldest. It runs just like the newer laptops out there. It has really good graphics for its age and i would and have recommended it to everyone I know.

The Dell Inspiron 8100 is a powerful laptop.

Comments about Dell Inspiron 8100 Notebook PC:

I used this laptop for about 6 years while I was completing my master's degree. I found it to be a very capable notebook, able to handle just about anything I put it through.

Pros: fast processor and reliable. Not much I can say here except that it works as a laptop should.

Cons: It's not built the best. Keeping in mind that I wasn't very easy on it (I took it with me everywhere daily, threw it around, dropped it on occasion), the plastic parts often cracked and the screen eventually displayed dead vertical lines. The trackpoint mouse in the middle of the keyboard became unusable, causing the cursor to constantly move either to the left or right. I had to disconnect it (which also disabled the touchpad) and hook up an external mouse instead. The speakers stopped working eventually as well, and I had to either hook up external speakers, or headphones if I wanted sound.

The most annoying thing, though, was the power cord. I went through about 5 of them. Due to the way it connects to the laptop, the chord constantly got kinked right at the end of the wire, and would tear open exposing its internal wires.

Despite all these negatives, I did find this to be a very reliable laptop. If you get one, treat it nice, and it will serve you well for many years.
