My first year in college, I realized how necessary a computer was, and decided a laptop was the way to go. Being that I'm not too tech savvy, I did a bit of research into what my friends owned and what worked/didn't work. Dell came highly recommended because of the cost-friendly feature. I used my... review »

A few weeks after I received this laptop, I had to replace the motherboard as the entire system crashed.  Then I had issues with the power supply cord and had to replace it.  The battery life died rapidly, and now the monitor died.  This computer has given me nothing but problems, and I am glad to... review »

The Dell Inspiron 600m notebook computer was the best computer purchase I've ever made. I've had the computer for 6 years now and still love it. It's our everyday, all-day computer. We have it sitting in the kitchen, and I'm typing on it right now. I've never had ANY problems with it. It's never crashed, never needed any sort of repair. However, the battery died some time ago, and I have yet to replace it. So it sits as a stationary computer, but is wonderful just the same. In addition to the computer's generally wonderful wear, it was a great deal. I took the base model and added a few upgrades...

My dell inspiron 600m has had challenges from the very beginning.  One of the keys snapped off, and even though I paid extra to have 3 years of in-home service, Dell sent me an entirely new keyboard and expected me to install.  The laptop has had power source issues all along.  I am now on my 3rd adapter, and based upon reviews on the Dell website I am FAR from the only person who has experienced these problems with their adapters.  My last adapter, bought directly from Dell, ended up being rejected by the computer as non-recognizable and eventually shut down my entire computer.

Dell has colors...

I have had my computer for less than 2 years. I puchased a 4 year warranty on my computer and I am glad I did. My LCD screen has gone out. My mother board was fried. My A/C adapter has had to be replaced twice. With all of this being said it was a pain in the ass to get the problem solved. The customer service people have very hard accents making it difficult to understand them. It takes about an hour on the phone to get a problem solved and if your lucky it takes a week to get the parts you need.

Do not buy. Other brands are cheaper and more reliable.

I bought this computer a few years ago as my first Dell expecting them to be reliable computers. Little did I know how much money I would waste on this "affordable" laptop. I bought the "in-home" warranty option thinking that they would come if the phone support couldn't fix my problem. This never happened. They ended up only coming to install hardware, but not even touch the software. I still don't understand why they would charge for this service since only their technicians can perform such repairs without voiding the warranty. The computer itself was slow and ugly. It looked like a plastic...

I love my Inspiron 600m. It is easy to use, fairly lightweight and I have replaced my PC with it. It has plenty of memory and I an download my picures easily and quickly. The keys aren't noisy when I type. The sound is excellent. Occasionally the A key doesn't type the A. You have to be sure you hit it dead center. This doesn't happen with any other keys. I spell check and proofread every thing I write. It is over two years old and I have never had any problems with it. When I bought it, Dell built it for me. I also ordered additional software which I wouldn't do again, because it was more costly... review »

I got a good price for this laptop but am not sure I'd buy it again. It's heavy, in comparison with what's out there now - especially when you add in the weight of the power cord and other accessories. I bought it with a warranty that covers everything (dropping or spilling coffee on it, for example) and recommend that to anyone buying a laptop, just for peace of mind. I haven't had to use that warranty so cannot speak to the quality of Dell service these days. In the past it was stellar, and that's why I bought my first Dell many years ago. I hear darker stories of the decline of Dell service... review »

This computer works well and is functional but by year 3 it will start to break down on you.  I've been having horrendous problems w/ low RAM, slowness, viruses, crashing, and melt downs.  i really don't recommend it for heavy use or if you plan on keeping it past 3 years. This laptop was great. I'd reccomend it to all of my friends. It was fast at connecting. It didn't go to sleep that fast. It's the perfect size and it's very light. It's not heavy and bulky at all. If something happened to it I'd gladly go out and replace it with the exact same make and model. It has lots of har drive space. It came with all of the programs that I would use on an every day basis. It even had a few games that the kids had fun playing on. It has windows Vista. That was the only part that I didn'r like. I'd much rather stick with windows xp. Vista has features that I'm not pleased... review »

So, where to begin.  I got my laptop new 4 years ago as a highschool graduation present.  All I can say is thank god they got me the extended warranty.  The motherboard has broken 4 times... Yes FOUR times.  I am not rough with electronics, and whenever I would carry it around it would be safe in the laptop compartment of my bookpack.  I imagine that it was the weight of the books that would damage the motherboard.  The real problem here is that the case is soo very cheap.  The plastic will bend if you lightly toutch it.  What possesed Dell to make an expensive laptop with flimsy cases,... review »

If you want to get online and spend a lot of time gamimg and stuff, this laptop is for you. It has high quality graphics with memory cards available to add space and not to mention the quick connection speed with very few errors. If you own your own business you can use the computer capabilities to keep your things organized and use prgrams that run with almost no glitches. Not a high maintenance computer, but has pontential to be depending on how old and how much use it has had. It opperates smoothly. Startup and re-start, and even shut down is a speedy process. When it's sleeping, the screen... review »

I've gotten the Inspiron 600m by Dell about three years ago and find it to be a very useful notebook. Understanding that my laptop is not so new, it still works the same as it did from the get-go and is considerably long-lasting. What more could you ask for than a reasonably priced laptop that lasts longer than one would expect? I find it to be cost-efficient and quality-made. A simple laptop that gives you the flexibility that you need without the technical difficulties; easy to use and easy to carry around. I am a college student so this fits perfectly for me, and would be perfect for anyone... review »

This has been my longest lasting laptop.  Which is saying alot because I have had several others in the last few years.  I have not had any problems with this laptop yet.  The computer is very smooth running.  The sound quality of the built in speakers is excellent.  The internal wireless card always connects to multiple access points.  This has been able to withstand a five year old handling it also!.
