I bought my Dell because of their reputation for customer service after having had a miserable experience with Apple support for my last computer. The Dell worked great for two years, then in the third year, the screen began to have vertical lines. Just one at first, but then more appeared. I called Dell repair and they sent a technician to my house who fixed the display, and in addition, replaced the motherboard, heatsink, fan and graphics card. All for no cost to me-- covered by the warranty.
Some other good things about the Inspiron... I like the extra high resolution screen-- great for watching movies. The comuter itself is very sturdy and well made. My last computer developed cracks in the plastic from screws poking through the surface (maybe the screws were tightened too far?). The Inspiron is much better, structurally.
Things that could be improved-- the computer gets hot. Also, mine seems to have a problem where the battery is not properly connected, cutting power suddenly. The computer is also very heavy.
Overall, I'm happy with the Inspiron.
