Dell Inspiron 530s PC Desktop Computer Review

Our old computer died an ugly death last summer. It was 7 years old, so I couldn't complain. We had purchased it from Del, and loved the customer service and the quality of the computer, so we decided to go with them again. My husband and I are retired and on a comfortable but fixed income, so our son (a computer professional) suggested we go through the Dell Outlet to look for something.

I went online and searched through all the desktops available, and we decided we would be going with the Inspiron 531. I called Dell and spoke with a sales rep about what we wanted. She advised me that we would want 2 GB of memory since we would be getting Vista, and she found a really great one with all the things we would need. She said she could only hold it for 15 minutes (Company policy with the outlet), so I asked her to hang on while I talked to my husband about it.  (He holds the pursestrings, while I want all the bells and whistles.) He agreed that we could go for it if we kept the old monitor, which was still in great shape. She consulted with the Techie gnomes, and they said we would have no trouble, it would work fine. She also advised that we would need a conversion cable for our printer, as ours used the old 25 pin Serial cable, and it was no longer in use on Dell computers. She said they had one for me, but it was $50, and I said I wanted to shop around for a cheaper one. She never made me feel awkward about that, and I really appreciated it. I found a place in CA that let me have one for $5 and shipping, so we were set. The new computer arrived in a few days, and I was back in computer heaven! It took some time to get used to  Vista and MS office 2007, but it was worth it. I love them too. Lots more gadgets to use!

I cannot say enough about Dell. They make a quality product, and their customer relations are unbelievable in todays environment. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else for my computer.
