I do like my Dell. I eventually want the a Mac but my Dell definitely will suffice for now.

Ease of Use
I wil never be smart with electronics. I can try to learn but there's always something new coming out that I can't seem to grasp right away. I enjoyed being able to get to know how to use this laptop. It wasn't so difficult. I read the manuals a lot honestly for some of the more advanced stuff. It's very easy to use though especially now that I know how to use it.

Battery Life
The battery lasts surprisingly long. I'm very happy about that. I can take it with me on the go and forget my charger and not have to worry about it dying on me so quick. Keeping it charged is recommended though. Its better for your own benefit anyway.

Support & Service
I get tons of support whenever I need it. I'm not very smart with electronics and all the new stuff coming out lately but if I ever have questions I can look up information on my laptop or call someone up and it's usually a quickly resolved issue.

Speed/Performance
The type of speed to me depends on what connection you're paying for or the strongest connection of wi-fi you have. The speed has always been fine for me. Sometimes I wish it were a little quicker but it's really nothing to complain about by far!

Design
The Dell Inspiron has a nice modern design. It's not super thin but not too big. I like the where the keypad is positioned on this machine. Believe it or not that is important especially to someone like me. It's outside design is plain. Nothing too fancy or potentially irritating. I like the smooth feel that it has to it.

Durability
This laptop has a very strong feel to it. I don't feel like it's gonna break on me easily. It's not super heavy and not quite so light either. Though I do have a carrying case and especially insurance, just to be cautious. I'd rather be on the safe side.

This Dell Inspiron laptop was given to me as a gift when I went off to college. I was thrilled! It worked perfectly considering I was only using it to go online and do homework.

Ease of Use
This computer is pretty easy to use. I have no complaints in that area. The "help" section makes it very easy to troubleshoot most issues you have with the computer.

Battery Life
The battery life is pretty bad. You cannot unplug the computer for too long before the battery is completely drained. I do not believe the I get a full hour of use before I have to plug it up.

Support & Service
Dell only allows you to purchase their products directly from them. So if you are ok with that you should have no problem with their customer service.

Speed/Performance
I have had this computer for several years. As with most computers, the longer you use the computer the slower it will move. So this computer moves very slowly. Be prepared to add more storage and never download anything.

Design
This is a large laptop considering the size of most other laptops.

Durability
This computer has lasted me a number of years! It still works and I sometimes use it as a back-up if my other computers aren't available. The power cord breaks frequently. I've had to replace it 3-4 times. So that's not ideal.

Pretty solid, but not lasting long

By

from Utah

Comments about Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook:

I use my computer all day to work from home, and I need it to be reliable, fast, and durable. This one showed itself to be reliable and fast for a time, but not as durable as I would have expected. It's my first Dell after a couple Toshiba's, and Toshiba seems to be lasting better.

Battery Life
Lasted a few hours originally. Now it's down to about 20 minutes. I would have liked to see it be able to hold a long charge longer, but it was probably about average compared to other computers.

Support & Service
Haven't used it, so I'll just put it in the middle.

Speed/Performance
For the first two years that I had this computer, it's done great. Now, programs freeze and behind-the-scenes processes (that are necessary to run the computer) cause freezing and slowdowns in performance. Lately, I've been very disappointed in the performance of this computer.

Durability
The battery didn't last as long as I wanted it to, the letter Q on the keyboard doesn't work half the time (for a letter that is used so rarely, it shouldn't be giving out), ad several small spots on the screen are showing that the pixels are burning out.

Comments about Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook:

The larger screen on this laptop is easy on your eyes and a comfort to use. Lightning fast display and keyboard will not dissapoint you. Having had several other makes and sizes, I was pleasantly rewarded after purchasing this beauty. A well designed machine that has all the extras you will use at your fingertips. Plenty of speed and memory to quickly load and save your projects. You won't be sorry you invested in this equipment.

Affordable, but nothing special.

By

Comments about Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook:

I purchased a refurbished Dell Inspiron 17r with i7 core and 6GB of RAM, functions adequately for all mundane tasks. Only big problem is that the graphics card is Intel Integrated Chipset which restricts me from running any modern games, but that's to be expected for a cheaper laptop.

Ease of Use
I've never really found Dell to be very user-friendly, but that can be said for most lower-end laptops. There aren't really any glaring inconveniently designed features, but nothing special either.

Battery Life
Battery life is abysmal. It barely lasts for an hour or so nowadays, and even when new it only lasted for 3-4 hours max.

Support & Service
Dell has a lot of support online but because of their huge product line, it can sometimes be difficult to find information relevant to your particular machine.

Speed/Performance
The Intel i7 Core processor is extremely fast, and 6GB of RAM is more than sufficient for everyday tasks. Can run some low-end games fairly well too.

Design
It's not beautiful, but not ugly either. Speakers are situated on the bottom of the laptop, which isn't the best place for them in my opinion.

Durability
I've brought it around with me to random places fairly frequently, often banging it up a little bit, but it seems to be no worse for the wear.

Excellent laptop! Performs great!

Comments about Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook:

Overall a great computer. The core I7 processes FAST and the screen resolution is superior. The 17 inch screen offers superior viewing. The lightweight, sleek design makes the laptop easy to handle. It has a back light keyboard making it very easy t work with. Windows 8 takes a bit of getting used to but I am very satisfied with the way it handles all of my work.

Ease of Use
The back light keyboard makes it easy to use for someone not completely familiar with a keyboard. The thin design allows comfortable use in most situations that I have used it in.

Battery Life
This battery surprised me. It lasts far longer than my Studio 17. I have forgotten to turn the power 'on' on my power strip and worked for 2 hours with all functions 'on' before getting a battery warning. This impressed me each time!

Support & Service
I haven't had to contact DELL regarding this laptop but I have been a DELL customer for 20 years and I am completely satisfied with support and service.

Speed/Performance
This laptop boots faster than any I have owned previously. I have many tabs open and this doesn't seem to affect the speed at all. This laptop has a fourth generation intel core I7 processor which makes it 'fast as lightning'!

Design
This laptop is sleek and light weight. I love it. The metallic design is very nice. I doesn't show fingerprints like my Studio 17 black one does. It is easy to keep clean.
This laptop has a number key section which is very convenient.

Durability
It seems sturdy and solid state. I have had no problems. The light weight slim design allows for easy handling which reduces the risk of dropping it.

Dell is Great!

By

Comments about Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook:

This is my second Dell purchase. I bought it from the Dell Outlet (scratch and dent). I couldn't be happier with the product. I love the large screen and keyboard layout. It has plenty of ports for my use. The only thing I don't care for Windows 8 GUI - not Dell's fault. Speed and reliability are great. No issues. Dell also has a solid customer service and support department.

Durrible hard working tropper of a computer.

By

Comments about Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook:

I recently got one of these that had a bit of a rough and tumble from a friend of mine. The thing's been beaten up pretty bad but still works great. These things take a licking. It's been easy to use, updates wonderfully, the interface helps find missing drivers so easily. Wifi is easy to set up on this model. I'm very pleased with it. I haven't handled one that wasn't thoroughly thrashed before hand so I can't speak to it's full out of the box specs, but it handles like a dream and burns cd's off rather quickly. All things I'm happy about. The graphics card and the processors make playing on facebook SO much better then the pc I was using. Hands down it’s probably one of the best computers I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. And normally I reserve that for my old Toshiba Satilite I still use from time to time, but between the graphics, the screen size, the light weight compact design, and the remarkably large hard drive it’s a pretty good deal.

Battery Life
Right now the battery gives me about 3 hours battery life, which is pretty good. I'm told before my friend had it it had a longer battery life.

Durability
I'm rather shocked at how this thing took such a strong and serious beating and is still in great working shape. The mouse is a little tetchy but I use a Onni wireless mouse with it when I'm gaming and that seems to take care of that minior issue.

The Dell inspiron is really portable!

Comments about Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook:

This computer is my dad's and he uses this for internet usage and he just loves it!This computer is not built for gaming but you could play games that are in browser. This is really good if your just wanting to get on the internet really fast.If you do plan using the internet for a couple of hours,I would recommend getting a laptop cooler because this thing will get really hot.You do not want a hot thing on your lap cause it will feel really uncomfortable. The keys on this laptop are pretty silent when you type. This is good so that it will not distract other people. The battery life on this is great! It will last you for a long time.I would have to say about 6-9 hours. This is also good for watching movies when you are just traveling either in the car or plane. This is also good for people who either work with something that has to do with business's.I would really recommend this to them. This also gives you about 3gb of ram so it is pretty fast.I would get this for internet usage only.

I love this laptop

By

Comments about Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook:

I simply love my dell inspiron laptop. The screen display is so big and easy to see everything up close. The dell customer support has been great too. I enjoy it's portability, I can surf the web almost anywhere with it. I'll never be strapped down to my desk again thanks to my dell inspiron laptop. The windows 7 is so much nicer than than my old windows 98. My 6 year old son does his homeschool work on this laptop too. He also enjoys watching his favorite TV shows online. We all get so much use out of it. I've started extreme couponing online, and this laptop makes it so much easier to do. I participate in online surveys to earn cash money and points to turn into gift cards for places that I already shop at, allowing me to save a lot of money for my family to enjoy at other places. This has been one of the best purchases that i've ever made. I would recomend this dell inspiron to everyone. I love it!
