I used to be a faithful Dell buyer, but as of this week Dell has lost another customer! I have a 1 year old Dell laptop, a lightbulb burned out in it. They wanted $400 to fix it (turns out it is a $20 part!), so I decided to get a new lighter laptop, the Inspiron 1545.

I have not had the laptop for 2 weeks when the problems started happening - it lost the network and could not locate it. It dropped programs that the computer came with. It had all kinds of error messages on all kinds of stuff.

Try to get someone in the US on the phone, I was routed to India or somewhere that had people who really thick accents who could barely understand me. Four hours later (one disconnected me while waiting for the computer to boot up, one told me I did not have warranty coverage - I HAVE A ONE YEAR WARRANTY AND THE DAMN THING IS TWO WEEKS OLD!!), by the time I got to the third guy I was fuming. At that point all I wanted to know was how to return the piece of junk and get a full refund. He did not know, he said he would put in my request and I would hear something within 24 hours.

FOUR DAYS LATER!! Still have not heard from Dell, so I decide to call them. I get the run around for an HOUR!! They were telling me that the order over 21 days old and they can not help. I demand a manager, then I demand the manager's manager. Now I am usually a pretty calm, laid person, but after giving my email address, phone number, name, and last four digits of my social security number 50 (no exaggeration) times and being switched and put on hold constantly, I was pretty much ready to lose control.

Finally, they agree to take back the computer.

No wonder so many people are switching from Dell, I can tell you this I will NEVER buy another Dell computer EVER!! Nor will I recommend Dell to ANYONE I know every again. Their tech support is clueless, the customer service is severly lacking and their product has a ton of flaws.

I just bought a new Inspirion 1440 for my daughter about a month ago. I had to have a new cd/dvd sent to me because the one it came with did not work. My daughter had found that after just one month, the keys are sticking. I am so disappointed with this product. I am not sure how Dell can stay in business selling such garbage. My daughter needs this computer to last for 4 years and I don't see it lasting for one!! Be warned, if you buy a Dell, you are buying a big fat headache!!!
