I bought my laptop for college this year and have found it to be extremely useful for everything I have asked it to do so far. It's great at helping me to multitask with a to do list and clock on the side of the desktop. When listening to music or watching movies on my computer the controls on the front of the computer are very useful. Almost everything on the computer is very user friendly and easy to understand. I just purchased a Dell Insirion 1521 and really like this laptop. Dell has come a long way with this model. Good price, great design and fast. One thing I feel is important and that is Dell itself. First the order and delivery was easier then normal. Second, I did have a noise in the unit. I called Dell and they immediately gave me a new unit. What was even more surprising was that someone from Dell followed up with me both on e-mail and telephone. The big complaint about Dell was poor customer service. I purchase my Dell Inspiron 1521 Jan. 2nd of the year & they had to replace the motherboard in April & in May I started having problems with the USB ports not working. They say it could be the motherboard again, but Dell & Best Buy laughed when I told them they should replace it instead of expecting me to be without a computer again for another couple of weeks. I think that if it is the motherboard again so soon that they should replace it. I'm a college student and I got my Dell Inspiron 1521 for all my school needs. I don't use my computer for anything fancy; mostly word proccessing and music, but it gets the job done. For the price of this laptop compared to other brands, it's a great value. It also comes in all sorts f colors (mine is yellow!). The one downside is the only opperating system offered is Vista, but once you get used to it and work out the kinks, it's a non-issue. If your computer is your life and you need to use a lot of RAM and complicated programs, consider an upgrade, but for this college kid, it works… read full review »

I like my Dell Inspiron 1521, it works fine except that it's a little slow.  My battery died and new ones are a little pricey, so I just leave it  plugged in now. The touchpad was a little hard to get used to, so I use a mouse with mine. So far so good.  I love the convenience of having wireless internet!  The screen is huge and the size of the keyboard is great.  Also, having the mat black exterior makes it look sharp when it's closed!  The only drawback is my hand kept touching the edge of the mouse pad while I typed.  Things kept happening that didn't make sense...  so I bought a wireless mouse and now things are… read full review »

I know that this review is for the computer, but when buying a computer you also have to think of if there is a problem who will be there to help.  The customer service at Dell is horrible.  I love my computer, but I will NEVER buy anything from Dell again.  The computer I ordered was not the computer I got.  I ordered it blue, it came black.  I ordered 160GB hard drive they sent me 120GB.  I ordered it with a cd/dvd burner and it came with a cd burner only.  You would think that they would fix these problems, but they just gave me the run around.  Said… read full review »
