Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop Review Summary

Dell is recognized as one of the top notebook manufactures in the world and stellar performers like the Inspiron E1520 are the reason why. Our community of portable computer mavericks has mostly good things to say about their Dell Inspiron E1520’s; one reviewer praised it saying: "If anyone is in the market for a new laptop, this one is perfect!," while another reviewer quipped: "This computer has been very dependable for me." Dell fitted the sub-$1000.00 Inspiron E1520 with a 15.5" TFT active matrix display, powerful Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 2GB (shared) DDR2 Dual-channel RAM, wireless LAN, IEEE 1394 port, and (4) USB 2.0 ports. While a few reviewers experienced problems with Dell customer support, which is turn dimmed their view of the notebook, overall our community of reviewers highly recommends this notebook. Read what our reviews have to say about the Dell Inspiron E1520 as well as the Hewlett Packard HP Pavilion DV6000 and Acer Aspire notebook computers.

I did a lot of research before I purchased this laptop.  I have an older Dell laptop that I am convinced is a "lemon".  I read a lot of product reviews and checked out the Consumer Reports review of laptops.  I am a huge fan of Dell and this was the one that I ultimately decided would be the best...

I recently purchased a 1520 so that I could have something to take when I have to follow my child around.  I have not had any problems with it.  I did not get all the bells and whistles because I wanted to keep the costs down.

I have not had any problems with the general use of the system and have...

I bought a 1520 spent a little over $1,000 for a laptop worth 2,500+ You get what you pay for in a laptop and for what I paid, I got a really nice laptop that has yet to let me down. I'm very tough on computers and am very used to making my own but I really like my 1520. People that are having problems it's Vista, not the laptop. Vista is horrible, but the 1520 was worth every penny.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop ( in Ruby red) in October of 2007 and no sooner did I take it out of the box, then it did not work. It was supposed to have a dvd player, but this did not work. Of course I called Dell and they had me stay on the phone for two hours trying to fix the problem. I dare say I am learning to be a techie, because they went over the same steps over and over and over. Finally, the tech suggested I get an RMA and return it because the problem was not able to be solved. After waiting 3 weeks, I recieved the laptop back and used it From February to June. Then more problems...

This computer has been quite a dissapointment to me.  First thing, it automaticly comes with vista which works far worse than having xp on your computer and there is no way to get this computer in xp.  virus's easily attached my dell inspiron and I do not go to many unigue websites.  I stick with yahoo facebook and mypoints.  All three very secure sites and yet y computer has received virus's from some place.  Whether using firefox or wondows explorer, my screen is guaranteed to freeze.  It is constantly asking me if I would like to update things and I am forever clicking no and do not ask...

I've had my new laptop for about 2 months now and I have no complaints.  This is the first laptop I have ever purchased so I did quite a bit of research before got all the options I wanted ironed out.  I got quite a few of the bells and whistles, including the $200 option for the 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT Video Card. The total price was a little over $1400 which was more than I had originally planned on spending but I'm completely happy with my laptop.  It boots up fast and I haven't really found anything that slows it down.  I love the overall look of the computer with the silver... review »

This is by far the very best laptop that I have ever used or owned.  I also have a Fujitsu Lifebook T1010 laptop/ tablet pc that ranks side by side with this one.  But moving forward with my Dell Inspiron 1520 review.  This is one amazing piece of machinery!!

I bought my 1520 back in September, 2007, about a year and a half ago, and it still works and loks as though it just came off the assembly line.  The only difference is that, being that I have had it for a time period, it is just freshly broken in.  There are no signs whatsoever of wear and tear.  It has stayed in excellent cosmetic...

Bought my Dell Inspiron 1520 back in 2007.  I originally went to have one built, but when I got done with the bells and whistles, it was going to cost me $2500.00 at least.  Well, I almost gave up on getting one, but then i went to the Dell Outlet store, and except for one very minor issue, they had a 1520 listed that totally matched the one that I had built.  And the list price was a whopping $1150.00. Then I called and spoke to the outlet rep, and he said the laptop that I was going to buy was basically brand new;  they had just finished the building of it, but the customer had...

This laptop was my first computer and my first major electronics purchase; it replaced the family computer for me, and since I got it with 250 GB of hard drive and 2 GB RAM (well, it seemed like a lot to me), it does pretty much everything our desktop does. More, actually, since it has more resources. I have no problems with the laptop physically; the keyboard is good and the layout is fine, and I like the extra buttons for volume. I got it refurbished from Dell, too, which was especially great since it cost about half as much as it would have to get the exact same specs on the exact same computer...

If you're considering Dell ask yourself are you lonely, would you welcome hours of interaction with technical support?  Do you enjoy deciphering technical babble from people who are barely literate in your language?  Do you believe a laptop is just as useful as a paperweight than as a functional machine?  If so I recommend Dell.

We are on our second laptop.  Our first was a lemon who would not recognize an ac adapter, pretty much making it unable to be unplugged.  We went through 5 ac adapters and two motherboards and I spent many hours on the phone and via their chat support trying to get...

I enjoy vista. I like the looks of it and find it very easy to use. The program itself is nice. It takes a little time to get use to it, but shortly after you are use to it you forget what you use to like. The dell inspiron itself is a dud computer in my opinion. I am always in the middle of working on something very important it seems when the computer desides to randomly shut down. It also likes to shut down freguently so that it can "configure". Sometimes I see the warning in the bottom of the bottom right hand corner, but usually i miss it. THe computer puts it behind the pages I have... review »

My Dell Inspiron 1520 is exactly what I need and use. I went onto the Dell website and created the laptop myself, picking and choosing the features that I wanted and only those features. This was perfect, becuase I didn't end up paying for tons of features that I didn't use, many of which I wouldn't even have known what they were for or how to use them. This computer has all the functions i need, which includes the basics - internet, email, music, photo capacity, and microsoft word and functions for school work. It is as fast as i need it to be and rarely malfunctions. I have had it for more than...

I went back to college after being in the workforce for a while.  This was challenging enough.  Between my teaching job, and taking night classes, I found that it was even more challenging trying to take my work for both from one place to another and depend on the computer at work or school being available, working correctly, etc.  Not to mention being able to get to my computer at home with teenagers around.  In November of last year, I ordered my Dell after much research.  I found the best deal and added the Vista Ultimate upgrade.  My Dell has made my life so much easier.  If my friend... review »
