If you're considering Dell ask yourself are you lonely, would you welcome hours of interaction with technical support? Do you enjoy deciphering technical babble from people who are barely literate in your language? Do you believe a laptop is just as useful as a paperweight than as a functional machine? If so I recommend Dell.
We are on our second laptop. Our first was a lemon who would not recognize an ac adapter, pretty much making it unable to be unplugged. We went through 5 ac adapters and two motherboards and I spent many hours on the phone and via their chat support trying to get the issue fixed. Apparently Dell gets a lot of calls from people who do not understand the concept of electricity as this is the first approach they take.
The video card also went bad twice. Three words you must remember when dealing with customer support, total system replacement. Two years later we have a refurbished machine after all that hassle. Nice to get an updated laptop however, the video card is also bad. The ac adapter sometimes does not charge. I'm thinking we'll have a paperweight again soon.
If you want function and quality, don't buy a Dell.
