Dell Inspiron 1501, Turion X2 TL-60 (2.0GHz) 1GB DDR2, 9-cell Battery, Vista Home Premium, IGP 256MB... PC Notebook Review Summary

The race to build the perfect sub-$500 notebook computer is underway and Dell is one of the leaders offering up stellar products like the Inspiron E1501 designed for those on a budget. Our community of portable computer users thinks Dell has a hit on its corporate hands with the Inspiron E1501; one reviewer praised it saying: "If you are looking for a laptop and limited financially these really are a great deal! You will be satisfied." Dell fitted the 7 pound Inspiron E1501 with a 15.4” TFT active matrix wide-screen display, your choice of powerful AMD processors, up to 2GB (shared) DDR2 Dual-channel RAM, wireless LAN, and (4) USB 2.0 ports. While a few reviewers experienced problems with Dell customer support, which is turn dimmed their view of the notebook, overall our community of reviewers highly recommends this notebook. Ok so I have to admit myself I cannot stand Dell desktops.  I have never worked with one that did not have constant problems so I was a little hesitant when I purchased my Dell 1501 Laptop.  Well here is the scoop, it was very afordable, easy to get up and running and I have yet to have any trouble... review »

I've had so many problems with this computer, from the time I first got it.  I will not buy a Dell again.  I know some people like them, so I'm sure there are good ones out there, but my experience with the product as well as many hours on the phone or chatting online with customer service have not... review »

Overall, the Dell Inspiron 1501 has proven to be a very effective and easy to use laptop. I purchased it roughly two years ago, it still runs wonderfully without a doubt. It's one of the fastest and functional computers I've had to date, complete with all of the traditional necessities you would need on a computer.

I've had a few bad experiences regarding the laptop, however, I expect that they are typical issues that most encounter with similar products. I purchased the laptop right as Windows Vista was first introduced, so I had some minor compatibility issues between the laptop and Microsoft's...

I recently purchased the Dell 1501 laptop.  I absoutely love it.  I am  a student and this provides all my basic needs and more.  I love the wide screen, and I am always online, and I have never had problems with the screen.  The cost was incredible, only $500.  It has plenty of memory and room on it.  My boyfriend had a problem with the screen on his, and called Dell to get it fixed and they never helped us, after weeks and hours on the phone.  But, my computer has never given me any problems.

I have this computer now for about a year, and I have not had any problems with it. It works wonderfully, and there have been no problems with the operating system or the hardware components. I would recommend this computer to anyone who is looking for a sturdy and durable lap-top.

I think the the 1501 in Inspiron 1501 means 15 months and 1 day.  Because that is how long my lasted before the battery was no good and then the hard drive went bad.  If you buy a Dell ( Don't do it, Don't do it) get an extended warranty!!

I got the Dell Inspiron as a 15th birthday present, and it hasn't failed me yet.  The power cord I got with it was a piece of junk though, but the manufacturer took it back and replaced it with a very nice one at no cost to me.  I have used this computer for everything, from writing novels to playing games to listening to music.  I would recommend this computer to anyone looking for a vista.  It's perfect for me.

Well, I actually got this laptop kind of by "accident"....I was looking to get a laptop since I was working partly at home and partly in the office and wanted to be more mobile and have all my files in one place.  I had not really gotten to look much, and had no idea what I actually wanted, but my husband's company gets a pretty decent Dell discount so I started there.

I went online and spec'd one out, but had some questions as far as certain options so ultimately we decided to go to the local mall and visit the Dell kiosk there.  The employees there were pretty knowledgeable and friendly, and...

The Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop that I am using to produce this review has proven to be an exceptional value.  In part, that is because it was purchased as one of a pair of like PCs in a promotional program.  Shopping around is important when purchasing major appliances, abd PCs are no exception.  This one was purchased soon after its introduction and the package included Windows Vista Home Premium as the operating system.  Also included was Lap Link , Microsoft Office, Macafee Security Center, Adobe Reader,Roxio Creator DE and a variety of other internet and personal Games and tools.  Two PCs...

My husband and I bought our Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop computer about a year ago, to replace the HP laptop we had (of which we had a lot of problems with). This laptop has the Windows Vista operating system on it, which may contribute to some of the problems we've had with it.

Let me start with the positives. The computer isn't too heavy, has a nice look to it, and has a nice screen display (color). It's fast when on the internet which makes my desktop seem like I'm on dial up. The Dell Inspiron was reasonably priced for the amount of features it had on it.

It has a DVD-RW, 2 GB RAM, & Windows...

I have been using my Inspiron 1501 for about two years now for my  job.  I use it on a daily basis around the clock.  The business that I am in is 24 hours 360 days a week.  I am constantly on my computer!  I have no problems with the battery dying if I unplug the computer and the programs that came with the system are wonderful!  I have windows Xp on the computer and I love how word and excel are set up.  I had to contact the IT support at Dell 2 times and both times the reps were extremely helpful!  I had to replace the keyboard because I had a couple keys pop off and the rep walked me...

So I've had the chance to try out the Inspiron 1501 from Dell and I must say that I'm both positive and negative about it.

Positive:

- Strong and resistant (a nice look, too): you won't have to be worry about breaking the screen in half or losing pieces of the integrated keyboard.

-Clear and bright screen: perfect for casual work (internet, e-mails, instant messaging).

-Nice online support: Dell is known for his excellent technical support in case you have any problems.

- His dual-core make it more comfortable when you have to open several applications (Office, web browser, instant messaging,etc.)...

I bought my Dell Inspriron 1501 back in 2003 to take with to college.  It works great for general programs, pictures and music.  The speakers could be a little louder for watching movies but it's also easy to plug in external speakers.  It also seems to have a lot of space for storage, I've never had a problem with running out of space on the hard drive.

My biggest problem with the laptop is that at some point the battery stopped charging or holding a charge.  Because I had the power cord I would just plug it in when I needed to use it.  This was okay until the power cord wires were going...

I HAVE OWNED VARIOUS DELL COMPUTERS AND LAPTOPS SINCE 2001 AND I HAVE NO INTENTION OF EVER USING ANYTHING ELSE.  I LOVE THEIR PRODUCTS AND THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT CENTER IS ALWAYS HELPFUL AND EAGER TO HELP!  I CURRENTLY HAVE THE INSPIRON 1526 (WHICH IS A LAPTOP) AND I ALSO HAVE ONE OF THEIR DESKTOPS IN MY HOME OFFICE (I CAN'T THINK OF THE MODEL NUMBER AT THE MOMENT).  AT ANY RATE, THEY'RE RELIABLE, USER-FRIENDLY, PORTABLE, EASY TO USE, AFFORDABLE AND CUTE (LOL).

My husband purchased a Dell Inspiron 1501 for me for my birthday a couple of years ago. He was given a color choice and selected pink for me when he purchased the laptop online. Well, he waited and waited and waited till my birthday had come and gone and he had no gift for me! It turns out that the Dell factory was having trouble with painting the color on the laptops and there was a huge delay by several months. My husband decided to cancel my order and we went to Wal-Mart and purchased my Dell there with just the gray color on the top of the laptop. They weren't having trouble with the gray color...
