Big and high functional, quiet and powerful; I like it!

Overall

Bottom-Line: The Dimension E510 Media Center Mini-tower is powerful home workstation that is more then adequate for Media Center duties, but also serves well as a small business server platform.

And so it happened; my ever slowing Pentium III based server finally died on me, and it was not a graceful death.  When she died she took two hard drives with her.  And so I needed to replace the server, my applications server, with a new box, but this time I decided not to go the built-it-myself route, but go in a different direction.  Lucky for me my company receives a Dell Employee discount of up to 33 percent.

I spent a week on-line configuring different s...

Bought the Dimension E510 back in Aug 2006.  And I haven't regretted it.  It's a solid, dependable computer.  I can leave it on for days and it doesn't get all junked up.  I can also shut it down every day.  For a computer that has 1GB RAM and a 160GB HD, it's pretty fast when doing multiple tasks in multiple programs.

I got the desktop after having a Dell laptop for nearly 10 years.  And have been very happy with my purchase.  The few times I've needed to contact tech support, I've gotten someone who knows what they're doing and they've been able to talk me through the problem.

Sometimes I wish the fan was a bit softer... if I haven't been using it for a while, it revs up, whirring pretty noisily.

I Love My DELL COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I bought my Dell Computer 4 years ago, and it has never failed me. This is with 6 of us using it. I have 4 young children, and they have used it to play games, enter contest, do homework research etc..., and it has worked beyond my expectations. I love it, and recommend it to anyone that is looking to buy a computer. As long as you do the regular maintnence on it, I promise it will not fail you. It is fast, has alot of features, and mever freezes up like some computers do. It is worth the money that you pay for it, and you definetly get your use out of it. My computer is used on a daily basis, so it has been used alot in the past 4 years, and it still performs like I bought it yesterday. This is something you buy, and have years down the road. I have had bad experience with HP computers. I went through 2 in less than 5 years. HP tends to freeze up, and crash alot, so if you are looking for a great computer, I recommend Dell all the way.

Dell Dimension E510 Computer Is Good Quality For The Most Part

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

The Dell Dimension E510 is a computer that has lasted me for over five years. I have purchased this computer back in February of 2006. I have never had any real issues with this computer. This computer has gone through viruses and other sorts of malware that has shut down and ruined my software and programs that I had installed on my computer on several occasions. But after getting help from Dell (which I have to say the overall customer service from them is average to below average but that's for another review), I had gotten my computer up and running again as if it was like new. Yes I was upset that I had lost all my files and installed programs but my computer was running perfectly. Anot...

The Dell E510 was great while it lasted.

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

I got the Dell E510 because it was relatively cheap and ultimately customizable. Both of these are highly important for most people in a home computer. At the time I needed to stay more on the cheap side, but needed to replace my computer that was ten years old. I loved this computer, fast, lots of memory, and it came with a great Samsung monitor. The Dell people were helpful, and the computer shipped very fast, I had it in only a couple of business days. It worked great for a couple years, and then all of a sudden just died. The power source went out, and in doing so my operating system was corrupted by the attempts to restart the computer too many times. I ended up replacing it with a nicer computer from a local computer business with lifetime service and parts, a big bonus for me. The Dell E510 is a great computer while it lasts, but unless you want to go with Dell's service plans, don't expect the computer to last too long.

Very Reliable

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

This computer is great for my particular purposes.  I am very computer illiterate and required help in picking this particular brand of computers.  An uncle who is a computer engineer helped me.  I told him that I wanted to surf the internet and utilize email as well as produce various basic word documents and spreadsheets.  The Intel duo core processor (one feature that I actually do understand) is very helpful and fast when starting up and shutting down. I have high speed internet access and this computer keeps up very well.  When I bought this computer, HP offered significant discount on the flat screen monitor and printer.  I have owned this computer for about four to five years and have not needed to have it repaired or fixed up to this point.  I utilize Norton Anti-Virus and that works very well.  The Hewlett-Packard telephone customer service personell are also very helpful with set up and usage questions.

I do not recommend the Dell Dimension E510 solely because it is a rather weak computer in a performance perspective. It has been reliable and reliability to me has not been an issue. It is just that this is a poorly performing desktop and it has, at times, been a frustrating experience. Doing a search online, it appears that many believe the Intel Pentium 4 processor, of which this E510 desktop uses, is considered by many to be a failed processor that lost to its AMD counterpart during the time of P4 production. It also does not help that this weak processor is being paired with just 512mb of memory. 512mb was weak back in the past and it is especially weak in today's standards. Anything less than 2gb of memory is considered low. In the even that you buy the E510 you really should upgrade your ram first thing. This desktop features 80gb of harddrive space which is low but doable. If you need more space you can simply add another internal drive or purchase some external harddrives.

But it Now!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Hello, People;

This PC is a modest version of something cheap. The power is enough to squeeze is just enough to start the PC up and open the email with the Internet explorer. The problems with today's programs are far beyond out fixing abilities. More programs are made to suck the powers out of the computers leaving us little room to do our work. In this E510 version, highest RAM is 4 GB which is very good. From what I have seen on the picture, there are two hard drives in the tower. Therefore, it would make it easier to transfer the files from one HD to the next. Two CDs or two DVDs drives or a combination of both gives it great flexibility to work with large or small files. Large RAM also allows multitasking. One thing laft to say about is size of the Hard Drive and its speed. The larger the faster it should be for the computer to work fast. Make sure you get that one, 72000 RPM.

Thank you.

I love my Dell Dimension E510.

Overall

As 2005 came to a close, it became obvious my 300MHz, almost 8 year old computer wasn't going to hack it anymore.  It had served me admirably throughout college and for the first 3 1/2 years after, but I was tired.  Tired of waiting for it to boot up, tired of waiting for my dial up connection (all it could handle) to load web pages, tired of it slowing down to a crawl if multiple programs were open.  I was tired of it freezing, or just restarting on it's own.

So I took some spare money and along with a financing plan, I dumped it into a brand new Dell Dimension E510 desktop computer.  With the customizations I used, it was about a $1,000 investment, but every pen...

Don't waste your money

Overall

I was really excited to buy a new computer to start college just after my high school graduation.  I looked around and found that dell was the cheapest and seemed to have the same perks as all the others.  I purchased it and was very pleased with the performance for about 6 months.  I might have bought it cheap but I expected it to last a little longer, I don't know what I was thinking.  I sold it to a computer place for 1/4 what I paid and I still owed what I got out of it.  No way I will ever buy another Dell.

I think for the price of this computer out there it is one of the best on the market. I had a newer apple and I thought that was nice until I used on of these @ a friends house. I went out & replaced my apple within a week with this system. It's easy to use & customer service with Dell so far has been exemplary.

Overall

I got this Dimension Desktop for work and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.  The quality of the product and its performance are great.  I work in computer-aided design for an engineering firm, so I use all of the power of the PC.  It performs great and can handle many applications at one time.  Thank you Dell for making a reliable and a wonderfully fast product such as this!!

I like my PC. I have had this desktop for over 2 years and have never had a problem at all with it. it is a little slow at times but has plenty of storage for my everyday use. I use it for email, internet, pictures and music. I have upgraded my monitor and overall have been very happy. at times i wish i would have chosen a laptop for the mobility but overall great buy!
