We've had a few dells over the years, and were not thoroughly impressed with most of them; I am a bigger fan of the HP brand. However, prices for Dell PCs came down significantly, and I thought I'd give them a try again. I have not been disappointed. The graphics are good, and the computer is responsive. The screen is large enough to work with two windows/documents simultaneously, but at some point you might want to upgrade to a 22", if you watch to really enjoy your DVD movies. I have not had any power issues or anything like that, and there is a card reader built-in, so you can download your pictures easily. There are only two USB ports in the front, which is a bit of a hassle, but there are enough in the back. I partly use this computer for entertainment (to store pictures, edit home videos, and hold a lot of my music); unfortunately, there is no firewire port, which I should have thought off before I made the purchase. I purchased a separate device which includes a USB port and firewire, but for some reason it does not seem to recognize it. I may have to install a firewire card, which I'm not intimated by, but it's a bit of a hassle. I must say that the speakers this computer came with are AWESOME! They are very compact (one of the two units has the volume control knob), and give great sound. We tried watching a movie on the other computer, but the sound was just ok; we put the same movie into this computer, and had to turn the volume down quite a bit. It sounded like we were at the theater. This PC also has AMD Athlon 64 x 2 dual core processor. These days your best bet is a dual-core processor (either AMD or Intel). Overall, it's a good "little" computer! The server stands about 1 foot high, five inches across, and a foot deep. You can actually keep it on your desk, rather than on the floor, as some of us used to do with bulkier machines.
