Dell Dell Studio 540 desktop computer —

I was a little surprised when I received my new Dell desktop, but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't care for the new-fangled flat screen monitors, sure they take up less space on my desk, but the display on my old CRT monitor is so much nicer, more brilliant. I don't know how to explain it, but I really love the old monitors, they just take up too much space.  I still have my old Dell, it's running on XP and I think I like XP better than Vista Home Premium, but so far, so good. I've only had this PC for 2 months, so I guess we'll see.  One thing I don't like about it is the fact that I ordered a 640 GB hard drive, and the anti-virus program updates everyday, so I've already used 200 GB of the hard drive space but I haven't saved anything I wanted to save yet!  It's all programs and updates.  I wish the sales rep would have talked me into buying the new TB hard drive because I'm afraid I'm going to run out of space before it's time to replace the computer. I guess I'll have to deal with that when the time comes. I need to get rid of the old Dell, but it's still sitting here on my desk, still hooked up, still running, and I just can't seem to put it away! I need to reformatt the hard drive - it got too full, that's why I bought the new PC - but if I reformatt the hard drive I'll have a perfectly good PC that runs XP, but the hard drive on the old one only has 80 GB, a lot at the time I bought it - in 2002!  I want to erase everything on it, and reformatt the hard drive and then give it to my husband along with the old monitor so he can finally learn how to use a computer, after all these years, it's time for him to come into the new century!

My review of Dell is: I love 'em! Dell is going to send Windows 7 and help me install it on the new PC at no charge because it was almost ready to be released when I bought this PC and since it's running Vista Home Premium they will let me have Windows 7 for free. I'm going to wait and see if I really want to switch - wait till the bugs are worked out.

Oh, I almost for got to add: I now have a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse.  The keyboard doesn't have a light that lights up when the Caps are on, I hate that, and my old mouse was a LOT nicer - I bought the optical mouse with 5 buttons - very fancy - but I'm leaving it hooked up to the old PC for now. I'm not sure I like the idea of running keyboards and mice on batteries. I'd hate to be in the middle of something when the batteries went dead and not have any fresh batteries on hand. That would really be frustrating to me.
