Power in a compact form

4

Alienware is always known as a gaming machine, and it doesn't make an exception here. The M11x laptops are very compact; however, they are not cramped nor are they slow in performance. The screen size is a little on the small side, but the clarity of the screen makes up for it after you get used to the small size. While these laptops are smaller than most gaming laptops, Alienware made sure to pack in enough fire power to allow them to play most games with relative ease. The graphics card included is fairly good for the price, and it allows for the laptop to push itself to high-end graphics on most games without loss of frame rates. The processors used are quite good for the price as well, with the processor allowing for the laptop to perform many tasks without any issues or freezing. Unfortunately, not all is good with this laptop. Because of the small size, heat becomes a factor quickly. In fact, these laptops can get hot enough to possibly damage the equipment inside if not careful. Overall, though, these laptops are a good buy if you are looking for a compact laptop that doesn't skimp on the power of the laptop.

great little machine!

I love this little computer. It's so small and transportable while able to do everything I want it to. It never runs slow and doesn't seem to struggle now matter what I'm running on it. Such a little powerhouse.

The m11x is a sturdy little monster

Straight out of the box, and I was already extremely satisfied with mine. The ones who bash the alienware line are almost always people who don't have it, or people who have the money to mod their own PCs. This product is really efficient for the price to quality ratio. It's parts might not be top of the line, but it's a lot better than pretty much every other 11" notebook. This thing feels like a tank and it's just incredible. It's great for gaming, and for school work as well. Just be sure to not overclock it for an extended amount of time, and only use the nvidia graphics card when you need it, and your battery won't decrease as fast as the intense users of the m11x. If taken care of properly, this little monster can easily last you up to 3-4 years. When I first got the item, the size and glossiness of the screen bugged me tremendously. However, now I hardly notice it. So just don't shine light on it, and get accustomed to the size and you'll find no problems with this amazing laptop.

Great Laptop, But could be better.

Alienware has always made powerful computers, this is no exception. If you have the money buy it. It is a very powerful laptop, but again, if you have the money buy a desktop if you don't care about moving around.

Great laptop!... but maybe a tad too small.

I ended up not staying with this laptop because, although I was looking for an ultra-portable gaming laptop, this one was a bit too small for my big hands.  I ended up going with the Dell XPS 14 instead.  Measures up to this pound for pound just fine. Aside from that this laptop has awesome battery life, light weight, ultra portable, sleek design. Runs games great. Alienware software that comes with it is awesome. Face recognition software for login, and a whole bunch of customization features. Excellent speakers too. High gloss screen can be a bit annoying, but is tolerable. It is VERY reflective and you can usually always see yourself like a mirror no matter what you are doing. Just wipe it down if you feel the urge to smudge it up with your grubby fingers. The hinges appear to be sturdy but I'm still being extra careful after reading other reviews which talk about how they have caused some issues. 1 USB on left and 2 USB on the right. No disc drive so I would HIGHLY recommend buying an external. All in all, it was a good laptop.

The Alienware M11X is in a class of its own.

Purchased this item back in June of 2010 with the following specifications: Intel® Core™ i5 520UM (3M Cache, 1.066 GHZ with 1.866 GHz Max Turbo Frequency) - Overclockable, 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 800MHz, 160GB SATAII 5,400RPM hard drive, Soft Touch Stealth Black, 11.6-inch WideHD 1366x768 (720p) WLED, no WWAN Antenna, 1GB dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M video card, Bluetooth, and Wifi.  I love this machine.  It crunches through everything that I have thrown at it in terms of media (video or music files), productivity software (Adobe CS4), and intensive gaming.  I've played local area network games with the M11X and it stays nice and cool even after hours of serious gaming.  I also love the stealth black soft touch material that encompasses the laptop.  It has a nice smooth rubbery feel that gives me the extra grip needed so that I don't drop my expensive investment.  It is also very discreet and compact with its form factor design, which is ideal for me as a working professional in the consulting industry because it is highly portable and when I have face-to-face meetings, it presents a prestigious aura.  The only negative is the glare present in the glossy screen, the keyboard is slightly wavy, and the media card slot does not allow SD cards to be fully inserted.  Definitely a worthy buy; I rate it an 8 out of 10.

Alienware is fantastic

5

I have the alienware m11x with the i7 core microprocessor and it is amazing. I chose 4GB of ram and installed an intel 160GB SSD drive and it is quick as start up and reboot. The downside is the weight, the battery is built in and the panel is screwed in so you would have to leave the panel off if you wanted to keep taking out the battery. It is bigger then the netbooks, but as powerful as the larger laptops and I believe it is worth the price. I purchased it as a refurbish item from dell outlet. I chose to get the extended warranty with the accidental protection and this will be good becasue I don't have to be afraid of the laptop getting broken because with a SSD I don't have worry about the hard drives scratching. The laptop battery lasts about 3.5 hrs-4 hrs just doing word processing web surfing and daily activities. The bluetooth allows me to connect my altec lansing headphoens to it which makes it convenient.

Now This Is Where It's At

Now this is certainly where it is at. I have mentioned before that portability is important for a laptop, and that such a statement should be obvious. I have used many a portable computer in my time, and the Alienware M11x Notebook PC is certainly no slouch. I could go on and rave about specifications, technological advances, and spew out a plethora of numbers and phrases that I frankly have no first clue or idea about, but I will spare you all of that and just give you my honest opinion of this product. It is powerful enough for each and every need I have come across, handling more simultaneously running programs than I care to admit, while also being able to run the latest in high-spec-demanding computer games. The changing, breathing color scheme of the light accents is beautiful.

Alienware's M11x: A Tiny Little Beast

5

Alienware's M11x is a great gaming laptop. With a screen that's only a little over 11 inches and a case that only weighs around five pounds, the M11x has the mobility of a netbook, but has the power of a high-end gaming PC. Simply put, it is a great little machine. Although many might take a first glance at it and deem it too small to game on, your eyes will quickly adjust to the size of the screen. The keyboard is small, but large enough to accommodate medium-sized hands comfortably, and the contours found in the keys ensure comfortable and accurate typing. The sound that this thing pumps out is great, too--not at all tinny like some larger notebooks. Plus, because it's an Alienware, you know that this thing was put together well--everything feels elegant and sturdy--the design of this laptop will definitely be turning heads no matter where you take it. I get people complimenting me on this laptop all the time! The only downside that I have for this laptop is the fact that it's processor is unfortunately not up to par with it's GPU. That means that although you can totally play all the newest games, some of them that are more processor intensive will unfortunately lag and stutter if played at max settings. Other than that small caveat, this thing has become my desktop replacement.

M11x - Love this thing (i5, 320GB HD, 8GB DDR3)

5

I've just got to first say I love my Alienware M11x Laptop, granted I upgraded to this from a 6 year old Dell Inspiron brick with no battery. Anyway, if you're interested in this you are probably wondering about the physical size and size of screen (11.6"). I pretty much instantly adjusted from my 15" laptop before and while it is very portable, its pretty heavy for the size. The keyboard does not feel cramped at all. One con is the screen is really reflective if you are more lit up than the backlight of the screen. I only notice before turning the it on, but I haven't used it much outside. The specification for my laptop are: i5 520UM, 8GB DDR3, 320GB 7,200RPM, 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M, WLED Backlit, 1.3MP Webcam. I used this all day long for net surfing and long Starcraft II game sessions and never notice major heat ups. I can't comment to much on battery as I mostly have it plugged in, but when I do unplug, the indicator always tells me I have just under 5hrs of battery life. Adjusting settings and use will greatly add or take from the time.
