Dell 942 Photo All-In-One Printer —
We received this model printer as a gift from grandparents during college. It worked great then and for the next few years. In recent times, however, the paper feeder developed a major problem in that it could barely take in a single sheet of paper with jamming itself, let alone several sheets in a row. You had to feed it in yourself, and then sometimes you had to do it more than once to get it right. This was bad enough, but then after changing out cartridges, it stated there was a cartridge jam, even though it worked fine the first few times after changing cartridges. We took out the cartridges and checked them constantly, but they were fine. Then suddenly, the device that moves the ink heads back and forth went crazy and literally SLAMMED the ink dispersal unit against the side walls whenever you just turned on the printer! It was so loud it startled us even when we expected it. We are now retiring this printer to COSCO, so at least we can gert some salvage value of it. And fortunately for us, we received another new printer a friend could not use, this one a Lexmark.
