Dell 926 All in One —
I own a Dell 946 AIO, which is just a step up from the 926 - comes with an automatic document feeder and I think that's about the only difference. In six months, I have run through 5 black ink cartridges and am on my 3rd color cartridge. Each cartridge averages about 200 pages (and costs about $20-25 each!!), and while today's inkjet cartridges are not known for their capacity, Dell's capacity is low compared to HP, Canon, etc. The cartridges are expensive and can only be purchased through Dell, which means you have to plan ahead since they have to be shipped from Dell; no running down to the local office supply store to pick one up if you run out sooner than you thought you would. The printer does have a counter of approximately how many pages you have left, but some cartridges print more pages than the counter says, and some print less. If you like using remanufactured inkjet cartridges, good luck finding a company that does them for Dell. The cost-per-page for printing is simply not worth it. That being said, the printer DOES print out nice quality color copies, and the ink dries quickly. The scanner quality is poor, even at highest resolution - the reproductions are fuzzy. All in all, the Dell AIO's have a way to go before they can match the other brands on the market. Don't let the lower prices fool you - you will get what you pay for. Spend a little more and buy a higher end inkjet from a brand known for their inkjet printers, like HP or Canon - the quality will be better and you will get more pages per cartridge. I love Dell, won't buy any other PC, but I will never buy another printer from them.
We bought a Dell AIO 926 last year. If I had to do it over again, I would NEVER purchase this machine. The machine is fine, but you have to be a millionaire to keep ink cartridges in it! IT'S ABSOLUTELY ABSURD! At most, 150 pages with ink cartridge costing around $15 at Walmart...Definitely NOT what we were expecting!
