Debbie Meyer Green Bags Review Summary

If you like to purchase food in bulk and hope it stays fresh longer, our reviewers recommend Debbie Meyer Green Bags. Awlafon says, “An investment here can certainly save your produce longer which may help your family to eat healthier and save you money too.” These bags are used to store fresh produce and keep it fresh longer. Easy to use, durable and convenient they don’t work miracles but they do help save your money and your food. Kpkoze says, “They keep bananas firm and yellow for up to 2 weeks. They keep lettuce from browning for 10 days. Grapes crunchy and firm for 2 weeks. Strawberries firm and ripe for 7 days. Potatoes and onions don't sprout for weeks.” All reviewers agree that the bags can be considered expensive, but not as expensive as throwing away food. Save more and eat fresher with more information on grocery items that can help you save money and have great tasting food.

"As Seen on TV"

My husband received the Debbie Meyer Green Bags as a Christmas gift.  What are Green  Bags?

Green Bags are plastic baggies, green in color, that are intended to help fresh fruits and vegetables stay fresh longer.  Do they? Yes.

I immediately knew why the Debbie...

My mother saw the Green Bags on TV and really wanted some for her bananas...so...after much cearching I found them at the local Walgreens As Seen on TV aisle.

We split the bags between us and both decided to try them.  My mother used hers for fresh fruits (pears, bananas, tomatoes) while I wanted mine...

Part of being a bargain shopper, is find products that help parishables, as well as other goods, last longer. This is why I'm willing to spend more on items, like Woolite for Darks, that will gently care for my items, so I won't have waste more nor to by certain things as frequently, thus saving money in the long run.

My husband picked up a box of Debbie Meyer Green Bags, hoping they would protect our produce longer.

Product Description:

Debbie Meyer Green Bags are supposed to work by:

Fruits, vegetables and flowers release ethylene gas while ripening after harvesting or picking. Ethylene...

I don't know if Debbie Meyer is a fictional character like Betty Crocker, but I sure would like to thank her for keeping my produce fresh.  Debbie Meyer Green Bags may not be the miracle that is proclaimed on TV, but they do work surprisingly well.

I had seen the commercials for the bags for several months, but I was reluctant to purchase them simply because I wasn't convinced they really worked.  And who wants to spend 10 bucks on something unless you're sure it's worth it?  Recently, I received an e-mail from HomeTrends.com with a free shipping offer on any As Seen on TV product.  The Debbie...

After seeing numerous commercials for this product and sitting around mulling over whether or not the product actually worked, I decided to bite the bullet and get a set, and boy was I glad I did.

Off season fruit can be expensive for sure, so why would you want to waste any of it?  Oh sure there are other ways to make sure they last - freezing in my mind is the most reliable method.  But what if fresh fruit is a treat that your kids look forward to every day?  I try to instill the "don't knock it until you've tried it" school of eating on my kids.  So I might buy something that I like, but...

These bags really work!  The key is to make sure the produdce is dry.  I found that if I put a couple of dry paper towels in with my leaf greens to sop up the extra moisture, I don't have to dry off the produce completly.  Change them when they get wet.  My leaf lettace has sayed good twice as long as it used to.

I never have any luck with As Seen on TV items. These Green Bags are supposed to keep fruit and salads fresher than leaving them out or in a zip close bag.

First of all, they are small. Secondly, the bananas lasted maybe a day longer. Third, and the most frustrating: there's lots of maintenance involved in using these stupid bags!

They may make the ethylene gas go away, but they trap moisture in there. Every day I had to do "fruit upkeep." Get out paper towels, remove the fruit and wipe out the inside of the bags to rid them of moisture, fruit goes back in. Next day, same thing.

No rotting...

We (my mom & I) had our doubts after seeing the infomercial.  When we heard from several people that they do work we decided to try them.  We were going to order a box, but noticed the local Wal-Mart was now selling them.  We purchased a box and shared.  We both agree that they do work.

We have used them for grapes, lettuce, bananas, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes & peppers.

We believe that they are worth the purchase price since they keep the food fresh longer.  Fruit & vegetables are getting to be very expensive and we need all the help we can get.

We have recommended them to friends...

I bought the Debbie Meyer Green Bags at Wal-mart and have used them with produce and I don't think they work. I had bananas in one bag and was constantly wiping the bag because of moisture. I then placed a paper towel in the bag but the bananas didn't stay fresh any longer than if I had placed them on a counter. I put strawberries in a bag and they didn't last any longer either. I won't buy these again, I thought they were a waste. Some of the grocery stores offer a green tinted produce bag and I think spending money to buy green bags is a waste. This is just my experience and opinion.

I least that what I thought when watching the commercial about Green Bags, but I bought some from my local grocer and now I think they are pretty awesome, especially with lettuce. I was so tired of throwing lettuce away, I would try and find the smallest head but we never used it up quick enough. So I would recommend them .

Debbie Meyer Green Bags had been on my radar for a while before I finally purchased a package of them. About every two weeks we buy a large amount of produce for just the two of us, as we enjoy fresh veggie juice almost daily, and my husband eats a large salad almost every evening. As you can imagine, often by the end of the 2 weeks the little that is left is getting pretty wilted and soggy. But the only place around here to get true organic produce is an hour away, so shopping more often just can't happen. While we do supplement with some non-organic when necessary, there are certain foods we...

I saw an ad on television for the Green Bags and called the number listed, and after much number "punching", (there are many prompts) I purchased 2 sets of the bags.  The bill came and I was charged almost $70.00 for 2 sets of the large bags with a zip lock style closure.  What a rip off.  Could not fit bananas inside of bag, would only hold 2 large bananas.  I tried them with strawberries and found that the might have stayed fresh for 3-4 days, but no more than that.  There is too much work involved with using them.  All items have to be totally dry, the item cannot be large, or it won't...

I had to give these Debbie Meyer's Green bags 1 star becuase there was no Zero. These bags are horrible and  I would never recommend them to any of my firends. These expensive bags are just waste of money. They do nothing like the website or TV show claims for.Forget about reusing these bags for 10 times, you can even not use it for 1 time with satidfaction. I see that any produce (tried greens, vegetables and fruits) saved in these bags rottens much more worse and quicker than an ordinary plastic bag from any grocery store. I got a small pack of these bags from walmart and I have used only...

Do I have a different type of Debbie Meyer GreenBags? I live alone and love fresh produce. But, most of the time, it spoils before I can finish it AND I hate going to the grocery to buy fresh every day. I tried these bags shortly after they were advertised and am quite pleased with the way they extend the life of my veggies! BUT, all the bags are so narrow that they could not possibly hold a bunch of three bananas or even a half a head of lettuce as shown in the listings! The zip strip closure at the top of the bag is so tiny, it is difficult to seal securely AND I've torn a few of the bags trying...

The Debbie Meyers Green Bags may not be a the miracle product they claim to be. The longevity of the produce doesn't really meet the extent they claim. But the product does actually help lengthen the life of your produce. Another benefit is that I take them with me to the grocery store and place my produce in them, instead of the plastic bags provided at the store. Less plastic for the landfill!
