Debbie Meyer Green Bags —

Debbie Meyer Green Bags

"As Seen on TV"

My husband received the Debbie Meyer Green Bags as a Christmas gift.  What are Green  Bags?

Green Bags are plastic baggies, green in color, that are intended to help fresh fruits and vegetables stay fresh longer.  Do they? Yes.

I immediately knew why the Debbie Meyer Green Bags had been purchased for him.  A.  He loves fresh fruit and vegetables and healthy smoothies and he is the main shopper in our household for local or organic fruits and vegetables.  B.  The Debbie Meyer Green Bags were labeled as Made in the USA and anyone who buys for my husband knows that he checks the label for Made in the USA.

After visiting the "As Seen on TV" store in New York City, I am still intrigued but even more skeptical when I see the "As Seen on TV' logo.  ( A gentleman tried to offer me a "down sizer" made for a size 6, in which case I informed him that if I was in fact a size 6, I certainly wouldn't be trying to down-size.)  But back to the Debbie Meyer Green Bags.

How do the Debbie Meyer Green Bags work?

Simply put inside your fresh produce and fold over the bag.  The Green Bags "absorb and remove damaging ethylene gases that cause deterioration."

Our package contained a 20 count of the medium sized Green Bags.  The photos on the cover show 9  day old bananas (gross) verses 9 day old bananas that have been in a green bag (beautiful).  The truth is somewhere in between but yet ripe and still very enjoyable.  We've also had great success with the Green Bags with lettuce, cucumbers, broccoli and strawberries.

My Viewpoint: I hate to waste, and certainly repurchase fresh produce, so the Debbie Meyer Green Bags were ultimately worthy and we have repurchased them.  They are reusable as well, as long as you stick to using them for the same produce.  An investment here can certainly save your produce longer which may help your family to eat healthier and save you money too.

Thanks for reviewing this b/c I have been seeing them in Wal-Mart and I was wondering about their effectiveness. I love cucs & bananas but they tend to go bad before I have a chance to eat them all. I will definitely put this on my shopping list.

I have also been seeing the bread saver bags. Have you used them? I believe they are similar to these. I tend to throw out more bread than I consume b/c I cannot keep it long enough to use it all.

Thanks for the review. I had heard both positive and negative comments about green bags. Now I'll try them.
