Debbie Meyer Green Bags —

Part of being a bargain shopper, is find products that help parishables, as well as other goods, last longer. This is why I'm willing to spend more on items, like Woolite for Darks, that will gently care for my items, so I won't have waste more nor to by certain things as frequently, thus saving money in the long run.

My husband picked up a box of Debbie Meyer Green Bags, hoping they would protect our produce longer.

Product Description:

Debbie Meyer Green Bags are supposed to work by:

Fruits, vegetables and flowers release ethylene gas while ripening after harvesting or picking. Ethylene gas accelerates ripening, aging and rotting. These Green Bags are suppose to absorb and remove this damaging gas, dramatically extending the life of fruits, vegetables and flowers.

They are supposed to save you money by wasting less food, are suppose to be reusable up to 10 times and suppose to keep fruits and vegetables fresher longer. They are also supposed to control humidity and discourage mold, bacteria, fungus and decay.

The site offers 20 bags of various sizes for the price of 10 at $9.95. In stores, it's just the 10 for $9.95.

I used them as directed on the box and there was ABSOLUTELY NO difference in the length of time my produce lasted! Having to wash the bags in between uses is a pain and having to redry the produce every day is another added chore I don't need on my "to do" list.

These bags are not worth the money!

In response to krislynn's comment from Oct 18, 2008 at 12:43AM:

I was going to use them for items that I have to reseal after uses because you have to get a whole new bag to reseal with the food saver. What a disappointment. I'm not interested in trying any of the Debbie Meyer products now.

I've seen the infomercial on these and was wondering if they worked or not. Thanks for the heads up...now I know not to buy them. Great review!!

I totally agree. I did not like washing the bag between uses, either. Now that it is a pain. I have a food saver and it keeps my food fresh. It takes no time at all to use it.
