I had never read any of Dean Koontz's books before Odd Thomas.  I had always thought Mr. Koontz wrote books that were too horrific for my tastes.  I'm glad I chose Odd Thomas as my first introduction to Koontz's writings.

Odd Thomas is a young, honest, self depreciating young man with a special gift that allows him to see the dead.  Sounds spooky, but having a silent Elvis travel around with you isn't spooky at all. A person can't be scared if they're laughing.  I found myself doing a lot of laughing while reading this book. There are lots of twists and turns, love and humor and a thoroughly great story.  After reading this book you will want to continue with the series. I am anxiously awaiting the forth book of the series which should come out before the end of 2007. Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz is highly recommended
