Dead Like Me Review Summary
Dead Like Me, starring Mandy Patinkin and Ellen Muth as "undead" grim reapers, ran for 2 seasons on the Showtime network. Currently available on DVD with a direct to DVD movie in the works, this show developed a core of followers that refuse to let it go. An "interesting take on the afterlife", reviewers unanimously endorse this story of 18 year-old Georgia "George" Lass who dies suddenly in a toilet seat accident and, instead of going on to the after life, becomes an undead "reaper" who's job it is remove the souls of people about to die and escort them into their afterlife. She is part of a small team of reapers, headed by Rube (Patinkin). He gives out the assignments, usually on yellow post-it notes. As a reviewer noted, " who knew the afterlife would be such hard work?". In the meantime, George's family struggles with her untimely demise. This comedy-drama is "not intended for younger audiences" and can currently be seen in repeats on the Sci Fi Channel.

Mandy Patinkin drew me in but the whole cast collection made me come back for the rest. Rented the entire 2 Seasons on DVD, watched them back to back and laughed. Enjoyable release from normal life, gives thoughts to ponder on, things to consider, the after life and how it is all connected. Too bad they didn't come back after the 2 seasons, I would have watched them all. — Not intended for younger aduiences, the language is bad in evey episode, but it was made for Showtime so they can do that. —…

character-lover, television buff, Sci-fi fan, Love unique stories
This show has an interesting take on the afterlife. The main character Georgia Lass is played perfectly by Ellen Muth as her intelligence and youth run parrallel to the Georgia character. Around Georgia are her fellow "reapers" who are an excellent supporting cast with their pasts and stories. The show has a dry humor which is integrated effortlessly into the stories. It also has its dramatic elements which usually revolve around Georgia and her coping with the new reality of being dead and becoming a reaper. An all around great show which was unfortunately cancelled after two short…

Yeah!! Sci Fi Channel plans to run these old episodes again soon. The DVD sets of both seasons of this endearing show would make a great gift for the person who loves amusing characters and unusual situations. Read the episode guides found on the DVD boxes. I can not begin to adequately discribe the appeal of these characters who, though dead aren't really "dead", have the job of being Reapers. I love to watch this show when I think life is too hard and I need a fun pick me up. —…

I first saw Dead Like me , when it premiered on Showtime. I wasn't expecting it to be so funny! It took a topic that could have been very grim and serious, and gave it an unusual twist. The show managed to take all those "Have you ever wondered moments ....", about what happens after we die put it into different episodes. Overall it was a great show to watch while it was on T.V., and worth going out to buy or rent, since the show is no longer…

A great show that not allot of people — got into, but if your into dark comedy with a great script you will love this show. —…

Dead Like Me was a fantastic show that only ran for a good season or two before it was cancelled. Sci-fi tried picking it up but didn't make new ones. Very funny, hope it returns. One of the most unusual and unique plot lines that was a lot of fun. Not necessarily meant for the…
