Excellent drill that gets the job done fast!

5

The Dewalt 18V cordless drill is actually my husband's, but I keep finding myself stealing it from him. It's so easy to use and has lots of power. It makes getting the job done quick and easy. Performance The Dewalt 18V cordless drill has a lot of power for difficult jobs Durability We've had this drill for over 10 years and it still works great. The battery doesn't hold a charge as long as it used to, but it's the original battery for 10 years ago. Versatility It's got a lot of power for many different jobs. You can always lower the power for lighter jobs. It is hard to fit the drill into tight spots so sometimes a smaller drill works better for those jobs. Design The drill is easy to hold and use. The drill is a bit big for some jobs. Battery Charge Our battery is over 10 years old so it doesn't hold a charge for very long. It might last 15-20 minutes of on and off use before it starts to get difficult to use.

Love that third Gear

I sell tools for a living. Having tried many different brands of cordless (battery Operated) Drill/Drivers, the DeWalt Brand is the Only one I would buy for myself.  When choosing a  size (9V, 14V 18V, etc) the 18V is the one I prefer. It has the right amount of power to do anything you would want to do.  One of the Special features of th DeWalt XRP series is the three speed Transmission. One Speed for Drilling, one for driving, and one with enough torwue to break 5/16" lag screws without any problems.  What I mean about the Lag screw is you don't have to finish setting a screw by hand, because there is not enough torque. I would recommend the DeWalt 18V XRP to anyone that has a use for a Cordless Drill/driver, and wants one that will last a long, long time.

Quality, dependable

This drill is rugged and dependable. It has many torque settings as well as drill mode.  I love all Dewalt products because how they are built!  I've had mine for several years and think it is the best.  I have since bought many more coordless tools from Dewalt.

The only cordless drill you'll ever need

5

It's not the least expensive tool out there, but it will last forever and is great for small and big jobs. It has a lot of different attachments you can buy, even a car buffer. It is light weight and can take a beating without falling apart. The battery lasts a long time too, so no stopping to re-change.

Long lasting considering plastic clutch

Dewalt, Cordless 18 volt hammer drill: I have had several of these hammer drills. I use it commercially, and after being dropped from an extension ladder, thown in a tool bag (origional case was so-so, but long gone), it is still survivng.  The only real negative is the plastic clutch, which I found our from my first two wore out way too quickly when you use the 'screw clutch setting 1-20'.   The current one has lasted for many years now, since I just leave it in either full drill mode, or hammer drill mode.  Apparently, when you use the screw clutch setting, it allows the chuck to slip, at the expense of the plastic gears. This, unfortunately, is not user serviceable, so you either send it in, or buy another one.  I've seen minor improvements over the years, such as adding a 3rd high speed range, and the battery packs stay compatible. As for the battery packs, the new chargers have a drain-mode, which DOES make the packs last much longer, if you do it every 10 charges.  This erases the rechargeable 'memory' that the pack has. All in all, a pretty good buy for the money.

DeWalt 18 works

5

Let's get this out of the way. I am not a handyman. I do not work with tools; I cannot build anything. My father does and he often drags me along with whatever home improvement project he wants to accomplish. He uses this drill and there is nothing wrong with it. It drills fine. It's so easy, even I could use it. The batteries last a while which is good. A problem is that over time it seems like the batterys will not hold a charge. This is a problem I've encountered with all battery products however. My dad does all sorts of home improvement jobs and this is the drill he trusts. He gets the job done with the DeWalt 18 so it must be doing something right. If you're into handywork, or if you are just someone looking to have a drill laying around the house for whenever you may need it, DeWalt's got your back.

Great tool

Yes, DeWalt tools are typically expensive. But let's face it, for almost everything else that you ever buy, the old saying is true: "You get what you pay for." This is especially true in my opinion in the world of tools. Yes, DeWalt products cost more. They cost more because they simply are better tools. I work in construction and I could not live without my DeWalt combo kits. Out of all the tools, my cordless drill definitely gets the most of a workout and it just stands up better than any other tool out there. Sure some other brans make nice drills, but you just can't go wrong with the good old DeWalt workhorse. I know without a doubt that when mine gives up the ghost another one will be in my toolbox within the week.

An extremely powerful cordless drill

in my house we have two cordless drills. A Ryobi, and this DeWalt 18 V cordless drill. The Ryobi is no match. First of all, let's talk battery life. The Ryobi has nothing on the DeWalt. Even at 18 V the DeWalt stays in the game from the beginning of my project to the end. Second, let's talk power. Even though both drills are 18 V, the Ryobi just feels a lot weaker than the DeWalt. You can really feel the DeWalt moving when you press the button. As far as construction goes there is no comparison. The Ryobi feels cheap, like a child's toy. The DeWalt feels like it was built for the manliest of men to use. I feel like I can jot this down the stairs and it would be perfectly fine. I also like the feeling that when I'm in a bit into the DeWalt, it feels tight and feel straight. I've always had a problem with my Ryobi. I can visibly see that the bits that I put in are not perfectly straight. I tried several bits in them had the same problem so it must be the drill itself. A little more expensive than the Ryobi, but worth it. I highly recommend it.

The Dewalt 18 Volt Drill -- Union used, wife approved!

5

My husband is a union electrician and will only buy dewalt products. He currently owns the Dewalt 18V Drill and loves it! It is a drill that is very durable and makes every job seem like a peice of cake. While we were remodeling our house, I would on occasion use his drill and it was so easy to use. I just thought I was a natural, but after using other drills I realized he just owned a very good drill. It can seem a little pricey at times but it is much worth the extra cost. Batteries are not to be kept outside especially on cold concrete, because if they are then the battery life will not last long. That is pretty started with most batteries. Just as long as you take care of your drills you will not have one problem. I would absolutely recommend this to friends and family!

DeWalt anything rocks!

As a female, I don't typically have a huge opinion on tools and "handy man" type stuff.  But I did grow up knowing one very important thing about tools-- DeWalt is King.  My dad was very handy and as I child I remember all of his good tools being yellow.  At the time, I had no idea it was about the brand, I just thought, Hey, Dad likes yellow.  When I married my husband, I frequently consulted his buddies when it came time to buy a present.  Any time a tool was mentioned, I was reminded, Dewalt is King.  I have personally used 2 different 18V drills.  Dewalt and Coleman.  The Coleman seemed, well, whimpy.  But the Dewalt, no, certainly NOT whimpy.  It was very strong, held a LONG charge while I put all my drapes up, and was easy to handle, even for a girl.  And from what I hear from my dad, my hubby and my hubbies buddies, Dewalt tools have a very long, and stong, lifetime.  So, go Dewalt!!
