DeLonghi Heater - Oil Heater - Radiator  —

This product is dependable, reasonably priced & easy to operate. Another big PRO is that once this heater has reached the temperature that YOU (the user) has chosen and set the unit at, this heated maintains and holds that temperature very well. The only main con, I can think of is that it does take a bit of time to get warmed up. But once it does, this heater can warm an entire average size room (12' x 12'), very efficiently.

As far as safety is concerned, I give this type of heater an "A," as there is virtually the lowest chance of accidentally starting a fire (compared to other types of space heaters) by using this unit as instructed. Which would be never to run the plug in cord underneath carpeting or any kind of covering. The plug in cord does get quite hot, especially when the unit is set to one of the highest heat settings. Which is why I prefer plugging it into a reliable and high rated power strip with an automatic power shut off, rather then straight into a wall socket. But, you should make sure the power strip is a high end model or this heater will end up tripping the auto shut off frequently and you'll go nuts!

Also, until the heater has reached the level of heating dispersion you have set it at (which can at first be a bit tricky to get just right) and levels off, this unit does sop up the juice (electricity) like a sponge, But this is really true for any form of space heater, if you think about it. One last thing, this heater, like any type of (especially high) electric drawing appliance should NEVER, NEVER be operated if the unit has developed ANY type of electrical cord issues. I found this out the hard way, when my first DeLonghi Oilfilled radiator developed a fray in it's cord, due to an overzealous puppy and I had a friend repair it for me (NOT RECOMMENDED!). Once the new cord got too hot a big spark flew out and ignited my carpeting! Thank God, I was standing in the room when this occurred or I would probably be typing this review from a cardboard box set up in an alley somewhere.

Welcome to Viewpoints! Yes a repaired cord can be dangerous unless it is repaired properly! Ron
