I received this deep fryer as a wedding gift recently and have only used it once. I could not find anywhere that stated how much oil it needed to I went out and got a gallon of peanut oil. (I found it at Wal-mart for the best price in case anyone was wondering.)
Upon opening the deep fryer for the first and filling it up, I discovered that it takes exacty one gallon of peanut oil.
It did heat up rather quickly and do a nice job with the french fries that we made. And it didn't leave them feeling greasy like some deep fryers.
It has easy clean up as just about everything comes apart on it so that it can be cleaned.
One thing that I do not like about this deep fryer is the time it takes to drain it. I would say at least an hour as the spicket is rather small and keep in mind you are draining a gallon of peanut oil.
And I recommend picking up a funnel, a small one, so that you can drain the oil back into the jug it came from without a mess.
