Dawn Direct Foam Dishwashing Foam Soap —

This stuff is dynamite against greasy dishes, pots, baking pans, broiler pans, etc.   I don't use it every day, because it is kind of pricey, but I am happy to let everyone know that there are refill containers available and that they are a bit more competitively priced than when you first buy the pump.   A little goes a long way.  One pump is usually enough.  I will pre-treat my greasiest stuff by spritzing it one pump and working the thick liquid all over the mess and then letting it sit while I do the other dishes (This household doesn't have an automatic dishwasher, so I am all for products that cut down on the expenditure of time and elbow grease).   Usually, about the time that the soap in my sink is pooping out, I have gotten to these nasty greasy items, and the pump of Dawn boosts up the suds quotient again.   It does a really great job of keeping grease in the water from settling back on the dishes, so I don't have to empty and refill the sink as often.  Seems to work equally well in most water temperatures other than stone cold.   Found it a bit tough on the hands in terms of drying things out, not going to be using it for my manicure, but clean wins every time.   There is more than one formula, but I haven't noted  a significant difference in scent other than the color....the clean soapy smell is the overriding scent.  I can also use a cheaper general dish soap if I have this handy for the tough messes.   And, it does a super job on the tupperware and plastic storage containers-you know, the ones that never feel clean after they have been filled with something greasy and slimy for a few days....Squeaky clean plastic makes me willing to use them again.  It doesn't do anything for tomato staining on plastic though....wish somebody would conquer that issue...and being the mad household chemist that I am....I tried rubbing it into some of the grease from my daughter's bicycle chain that got all over her pink jeans....and it worked like a charm-only one trip through the washer and no more grease.  My Mom diluted it in her wash water for window washing, and said that it cut through the sticky kerosene build up from diesel trucks passing on the highway.  It does take alot of rinsing-especially on plastics, but I found that colder water for rinse seems to get it off more quickly...
