Most HelpfulIf you don't know who Chris Daughtry is by now, you've most likely been living under a rock for the better part of a year. From his run on American Idol's fifth season (he finished 4th despite being heavily favored), to scoring a hit with his true to the original Wanted Dead or Alive, to the release...
review »Thank God he didn't win!
We were ALL surprised when Chris Daughtry got the boot from American Idol (see my review). In retrospect, we see now it was the best thing that ever happened. Chris's earlier-than-expected exit generated an enormous amount of career-launching buzz. Daughtry caused even more eyebrows to arch when he declined to be the lead singer of his favorite, well-established rock band. Somehow, though, this clever and wickedly talented singer made it through the gauntlet of instant stardom, avoiding the pitfalls of bad management, bad songs, bad producers, manipulative handlers...
I have to admit that I didn't buy Daughtry's self-titled release, but borrowed it from a friend and am glad that I did.
I'm willing to bet most of this guy's fans are either young teenagers (who will buy anything) middle aged mothers (and maybe some fathers) who don't have a clue about what good music is, or, girls/women who just think he's "hot". This entire album is commercial watered down nothingness. All the songs sound alike. No originality, no creativity. All the songs sound the same. It's hard to differentiate where one stops and the next one starts - no change of tempo.
Hopefully my assessment...
review »This is the only CD I've bought from an artist on American Idol. When Chris Daughtry was on the show, I would drop everything when he came on the screen. His eyes are so intense, so passionate; it's hypnotizing! And his voice is so smooth, and yet so rough, it's truly mesmerizing.
I was surprised at how much I liked the CD, simply because I've never thought much of the other artist's music once it came out. Daughtry's CD is really great, I like every song on it. It's has more of a classic rock sound than I expected it to have. It's real mellow, and something I can listen to at work,...
review »It was clear to me that Daughtry should have won American Idol. His rendition of "Walk The Line" (originally done by Johnny Cash) left me on the edge of my seat, wanting more. For me, it was better than the original. Daughtry went on to prove why he should have won with this self titled CD. Fans agree that this is a great CD, since it went platinum in no time at all. Chris Daughtry has a lot of talent on this CD. The song "Home," was used on the next season of American Idol, as one by one, the contestants were sent home. There's so many meaniful songs like "It's Not Over," "Feels Like Tonight,"...
review »I saw Daughtry in concert and they were amazing!! He was my favorite on American Idol that season and I bought the cd as soon as it came out.
Chris has such a great rock voice and the band rocks the music like no other. They all really compliment each other.
I love all the songs but I think my favorite is What About Now. There is just something about the lyrics that makes me want to do something or someone else.
Home was featured on American Idol the following season as the song that was played when a contestant was sent home. A lot of people heard that song. It's also one of my favorites....
review »I watched Chris Daughtry on American Idol. I was rooting for the other chick, but he was my next runner up..I figured he was gonna make it anyway.
His music justs hits a place when I hear his songs. I think he will continue to grow and prosper in his career.
I am a really big fan of Home and that one song about the end of a relationship. I cant think of the name of it. But ever since I heard it on the radio and found out who it was, I havent been hearing it on the radio. But it is a good song.
I would recommend it to anyone into that type of music.
Season 5 of American Idol was perhaps the most talented group of singers the show has ever had.
Chris Daughtry wound up in 4th place--behind winner Taylor Hicks, 1st runner-up Katharine McPhee and third place finisher Elliott Yamin. Daughtry should have clearly won this year and Yamin should have finished in 2nd place.
Both Daughtry and Yamin have sold a considerable amount of CDs and both Hicks and McPhee were dropped by their labels for poor sales.
Daughtry's CD is not that good, but people seemed to enjoy the rock aspect of it.
