Dark Prince —

I found the whole different species and type of existence created by the author different, entertaining, and was quite frankly admired her imagination. The males are alpha, which some may find offensive or insulting. The author went through great effort to explain that the Carpathians are a different "species" - not human; Carpathians are primal, they even shape-shift and run as and with wild animals (including wolves) - remember, humans are supposed to be civilized; their principal instinct, main objective, and most actions (it appears) are based on their need to protect their lifemates and children on a primal or animalistic level - keep in mind, humans are "more evolved." Their "alpha" mentality and behavior, while off-putting to some, adds to their wild-animalistic, whole-other-species nature. It may be difficult for some to view Carpathians as another species and seek humanize them; however, doing so detracts from the creativity involved in creating a whole other species, culture, and way of existence.
