To the Point

My husband, hannasdad,  would rather have soft serve ice cream than Ben & Jerry’s. That means lots of Dairy Queen. However this time going to Dairy Queen was my choice. He had gotten ice cream elsewhere but I wanted a Blizzard.

A Closer View

I have my favorites at Dairy Queen such as the dipped soft serve ice cream. The ice cream is dipped into a soft coating (My favorite is chocolate although some locations have cherry which is good as well.) which hardens immediately. The only problem with this item is the ice cream melts and usually I am left holding the chocolate coating in my hands.

Although soft serve is not my favorite ice cream, Dairy Queen’s soft serve is very good. Unlike other soft serves I’ve had, it is not ice milk.

The Original! Blizzard Flavor Treats are soft serve ice cream blended with candy, cookies or fruit. Some examples include Merry Mint Chip Blizzard, Snickers, Butterfinger, Cookie Dough Blizzard, and French Silk Pie Blizzard.  This one was very good.  The Blizzard was coffee flavored with chunks of pie crust in it.

I once had the Hawaiian Blizzard. This had vanilla soft serve blended with chunks of banana, pineapple and coconut. There must have been ½ of a banana in that blizzard much of the pieces hadn’t blended leaving chunks which was just fine. I didn’t taste a lot of pineapple but I did taste a lot of coconut. A very nice young man asked me if I wanted the coconut plain or toasted. I had it toasted. It was creamy and perfect on a warm night.

Most recently in Bandon, Oregon, I got a caramel chip cheesquake (cute name). It was good. It wasn’t my favorite because I like to take pieces and I couldn’t. I could taste caramel flavor and tiny bit of cheesecake but not enough to get this particular one again

The offerings vary from location to location. You may find cheeseburgers, salads, chicken sandwiches, fries and hot dogs.  This location served Moo Lattes which have soft serve ice cream and coffee. DQ also offers low carb fudge bars (5 grams) and vanilla orange bars (9 grams).

Blizzards come in three sizes. I paid $3.99 for the large.
