Dad's Pregnant Too! —

I received a copy of Dad's Pregnant Too!,thinking that it could turn out to be a good tool to helping me learn the ins and outs of pregnancy, and maybe be able to help out my wife a little bit along the way.  The end result of the time that I spent reading this well constructed book is that I feel much more knowledgeable not only about what my contributions need to be during and after the pregnancy, but how to help my wife out even more than I knew how to before I picked it up.  This ended up being quite a valuable book for me, and I think I can speak from experience, as I have picked up a few books over the past few months, and this one has given me the best perspective from a guys point of view.

Author Harlan Cohen lends Readers a Helping Hand

The best thing about this book is that author Harlan Cohen relates knowledge through his experiences and that of people he has come to know over the years.  In doing this, he is able to show exactly what methods of preparation have worked the best, and which things just have to be experienced first-hand to figure out where that specific couple is best suited to look for answers.  The second best part of the whole book, is that Cohen is able to relate and translate nearly everything with a great sense of humor.  In what is a really stressful time where fathers to be (like myself) aren't completely sure what to do next, it is great to have a moment where you can sit and smile about it, and other times where you can laugh out loud at some of the personal stories relayed in the book.

Is Dad's Pregnant Too! a helpful book that Fathers-to-be should purchase?

When reading through this book, I felt completely at ease with Cohen as an author, and grew a trust for what he was saying by how he was able to so easily relate to his readers early on in the book.  He was giving me a great guys perspective when it comes to the pregnancy, and it is very interesting how much that guys just don't or can't do right during a pregnancy.  You learn that your wife/girlfriend isn't as mad at you as it may seem at times, that she will become almost instantly a "nester", and that this is now a key time to let her be irrational without calling her on it.  There are probably quite a few pointers given that women just expect us guys to know already, and learning what we need to do before we do it wrong is a huge advantage for men everywhere.

My ViewPoint of Dad's Pregnant Too!

In reading through Dad's Pregnant Too! I was simultaneously able to relieve some stress and breathe a sigh of relief while learning through just about every chapter of the book.  There were a couple of mis-steps I made before I received the book that could have gone better if I had read this first, but I am so very grateful for the chance to sit down and learn from Harlan Cohen.  The end result of this book is that I saw it as a 525 page cheat-sheet on how to interact with my wife during the pregnancy, and it has already helped me to enjoy the great moments of pregnancy, and avoid some of the relationship pit-falls that can exist during this time.  I found (and still find) this book to be extremely helpful, and it is going to be a book that I either suggest or lend to any of my guy friends that have kids in the near future.  It is highly recommended, and almost required reading in my opinion for anyone looking to learn more about the whole pregnancy experience.

I'm glad it helped you! I'm not a huge fan of the title, I hate when couples say "we're pregnant", makes me want to barf... the guy doesn't gotta go through the torture! Haha, but even so, it does sound like this might be something for me to get my husband when we are at that point in our life. Maybe I'll buy it as a way of telling him :-D
