I had a satellite dish 6 years ago and was very disappointed with the service when it rained.  And in subtropical Houston, it rains quite a bit.  I switched to cable in my new house 5 years ago and was very happy - until my DH found that he could only subscribe to Rubgy (Setanta channel) on DirecTV.

I read up on them, talked to them to find out how service was when it rained, and decided to take another chance since they *promised* that I would get service rain or shine.  Boy, what a crock.  On top of no signal when it rains, the installer left a hole in my roof that caused over $3000 in damage.  DirecTV must have this happen ALL the time because they hardly questioned my damage claim...  I'd switch back in a heart beat if we could get rugby on cable tv.

Bob - thanks for the input - I'll check into what size satellite dish we have. Any chance that FiOS carries rugby games? :)

There might be a slightly larger dish available that will give you more reliable coverage when it rains. I think the standard dish is 18 inches and the larger one is 24 inches. The bigger the dish gets, the stronger the signal gets... exponentially.

Good review. I had problems with DirecTV too, and now have FiOS from Verizon.
