D-link DGS-2208 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch

Reason gigabit switch, no problems with it.

3

After testing a few switches of my own (some were not working as well as others), I settled on this Dlink DGS-2208 gigabit switch. This features a full 8 port, an upgrade from my previous 5 port switch. So far, there are no problems with it. It uses the same type of chasis that most of Dlink products have, and all the 8 ports are in the back. In the front, it has lights that tell which port is connected, and which port is sending out data. The performance is pretty good too. While it doesn't get the full gigabit (none that I know do), it actually gets reasonable close. There seems to be no issue so far, and I haven't had any need to reboot the switch, though it does get a bit warm at time. Most dlink products that I have seem to get a little warm, so I'm not too worried about it. The material is plastic made, but not that cheap plastic that I've seen on some switches. I have no qualms about it, as it functions exactly what it should do: a simple plug and play switch that doesn't need to be rebooted and gives good performance.
