DUB-H7 - A 'semi' Powered USB Hub

By

from Providence, RI

Comments about D-link 7-Port USB Hub (DUB-H7):

I bought the D-Link DUB-H7 7 port USB Hub specifically because it was a powered USB hub. The hub's manual stated that the USB ports are always on as long as the included AC power is connected. Turns out this isn't exactly true. My intention was to be able to charge my cellphone via USB cable through this hub while my computer was off, and sync it with my computer while the computer was on. Low and behold the USB ports are NOT powered when the computer is off, so using the ports for charging is not possible then.

If you are looking for a powered USB hub to run all those external hard drives and DVD/BluRay writers, this hub will suffice. As I said it is powered and provides plenty of juice to run these power hungry devices.

However, If you are buying this with the added intention of being able to charge some of your USB devices while your computer is off, well, save your money.

D-Link DUB-H7- You can never have enough USBs

By

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about D-link 7-Port USB Hub (DUB-H7):

I have owned the D-Link DUB-H7 USB hub for over a year now.  I have no complaints whatsoever.  The unit has several USB 2.0 ports (I believe 7).  The problem I have had with all my computers is the lack of USB ports.  I have so many different peripherals including 3 External Harddrives, so its very important for me to have several USB ports.  I had previously purchased a no name brand usb hub off of Ebay, and it was horrible, most of my peripherals were not recognized and I kept getting a delayed write error on my hard drives.  I suspect this is due to the hub running off of USB power of the computer.  This is not the case with the D-link unit. The D-link hub has its own standalone power source, so i have never had any issues hooking up power hungry peripherals.  What else can I say? The unit performs as promised without issues.  In addition, the price is really good for what you  get. I definitely recommend this product for anyone needing more USB ports.
