Great repellant

5

We live in Texas where the mosquitos get really bad in the summer. So we used to buy only "off" brand mosquito spray. They were out of it so we got this to try and we were pleasantly surprised. It worked so well we might just use it from now on. Effectiveness It is very effective. We didn't have to keep applying it like other sprays. Ease of Application Like most mosquitos sprays this is easy to apply and easy to wash off at the end of the day. Scent We loved this because it didn't have much of a smell at all.

Cutter Skinsations Feels Good, but Offers Less Protection

Insect repellant is a must- use product when you live in a subtropical climate like I do. The weather is warm most of the year and with warm temperatures comes more bugs of both the crawling and flying variety. The crawling bugs are one thing, but the flying bugs are another because they can sneak up on you without you even noticing. An insect repellant is critical to protecting the skin and one possible option is Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellant Ultra Light. Insect Repellant Facts and Commentary: Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellant Ultra Light is, like its name indicates, a lighter than average insect repellant that sprays onto the skin but feels less heavy and smells lighter than most. The product contains DEET (7%) and Picaridin (15%), which provides protection from mosquitoes, ticks and other biting insects. A mechanism on the cap locks it to prevent accidental sprays and the product sprays on quickly, for convenient use. Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellant Ultra Light is a good insect repellent alternative with a little less DEET than other brands for a little greater peace of mind. It is capable of keeping flying insects away from your skin for up to four hours and it feels much lighter on the skin. There is only a small amount of moisture and it dries quickly. Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellant Ultra Light is safer for younger kids than other insect repellants and it makes a good choice for parents who are more worrisome about their children and the exposure to DEET. However, the main problem I have with Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellant Ultra Light is that it doesn't repel flying insects as well as OFF! and other brands. The reduced DEET is most likely the reason. I don't know much at all about the other ingredient, Picaridin, but it doesn't seem to aid much in the insect repellent mission. Bottom Line Viewpoint: Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellant Ultra Light is an okay product from Cutter, but not one I recommend if you want to be fully, 100% protected. I do like the light feel and the more acceptable scent, but unless there are few flying insects around me, I'm not going to trust this product. Its use should be limited to only the less threatening days when biting insects are scarce. Effectiveness The product is less effective than most and the reduced DEET is the reason. Ease of Application Sprays on with relative ease. Scent Better scent than most, thanks mainly to the reduced DEET.

It's OK, Not as Good As Off

I can't believe how much bug repellent costs these days. I have started buying it at the end of the season for the following year because it is a lot cheaper to do it that way. I did have to buy some on an emergency basis once this year, as we were going to be sitting outside at night for several hours, and I forgot to put some bug repellent in the car before we left so we stopped to get some. The store we stopped at did not have a great selection and while I would have usually chosen Off they didn't have any of that so I purchased the Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellent Ultra Light. The Cutter Skinsations Insect repellent is supposed to last between 4 and 6 hours. I would say closer to the 4 hour mark because we did have to reapply once throughout the evening. Since it has a pump instead of a sprayer it is both easier and more difficult to use with the pump as a sprayer. More difficult because it takes a bit longer, less difficult because there is less chance of it spraying in to someone's eyes or opened mouth or breathing it in accidentally. The scent is also pretty pleasant for a bug repellant and it is also nice and gentle on the skin and even has softening properties. It contains Aloe and vitamin E. Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellent Pump Spray is a CDC approved. It does contain 7% deet which is the active ingredient and seems like a decent amount so I am surprised it did not stay effective longer. The spray is a little more gentle then most and is safe for children 2 months and over. The price was very competitive and less expensive then OFF. Skin softening is great and all but when I put on but repellent my main objective is to not get bit by bugs. The repellent works for a while about 4 hours but then you will need to reapply it. If you can't stand the smell of OFF you may appreciate the scent of this. So my final opinion of this is that it is OK, it does the job, I don't think it is as good as OFF but it is less expensive and it does smell better. Effectiveness Works well for about 4 hours then the bugs start biting. Simply reapply. Ease of Application It is safe to put on as it doesn't spray out quickly and you can be more exact while spraying it. It is not as quick to spray though. Scent Nicer than most.

Very Disappointed with Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellent

**Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellent** did not live up to my high expectations, which was a surprise to me because I had used Cutter Advanced Sport insect repellent last year with great results. **What I like about Cutter Skinsations:** - picaridin is recommended as a safe and effective alternative to DEET for use by children - smells much better than most mosquito repellents - did repel at least some of the mosquitos - cooling effect on skin (except near a nasty poison ivy rash that I had--you should avoid spraying any rashes or open wounds) **What I don't like about Cutter Skinsations:** - didn't seem nearly as effective as the Cutter Advanced Sport (but I couldn't find that brand this year) - took husband a while to figure out that the lid twists - it was left in our camper without being locked and a lot of it leaked on nearby items - rather expensive - kids didn't like to have it applied to their skin (even though I sprayed it in my hand and then applied it on them) - ingredient list was very vague--says that it contains picaridin 15% and "other ingredients 85% **My Viewpoint:** **Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellent** missed the mark for me. We went camping in a wooded area at the beach near Hilton Head, SC. The mosquitos were FIERCE. I think this repellent worked somewhat, but our whole family was still pretty torn up with mosquito bites (probably averaging about 20 bites each) after using this product. After suffering with a major poison ivy rash for about three weeks prior to this camping trip, the last thing I wanted to do was to deal with mosquito bites, especially when they were tearing up my kids as well. I finally switched to DEET during some of the camping trip. I'm really hoping for an improved product and more safe options for mosquito repellents for kids.
