I was out geocaching with my mom a few weeks ago and found myself being eaten alive by mosquitoes. I usually keep insect repellent in my backpack but it was early in the season and I didn't expect the little suckers to be out in full force yet so they caught me off guard.
Mom, who is very concerned about the west nile virus (or the vile nirus as it's called in our family), insisted that we stop for some repellent before we continued our adventures.
I'm not normally a fan of wipes but I was looking for something lightweight and easy to apply while on the go and Cutter Backwoods Mosquito Wipes seemed to be a good way of applying insect repellent so I bought them. Plus I've always been really happy with Cutter products since I was a little kid so I figured I'd be happy with the wipes.
The container was easy to open and the wipes easy to dispense. It seems airtight enough to keep everything inside from drying out. The problem is that the wipes seem to dry out really fast once they hit the air and are in use.
For example, I was able to coat my left arm with repellent but soon after starting on my right arm the wipe completely dried up. So I ended up using 5 wipes in all. One for each arm and leg and one for my face and neck. The container was $6 for 20 wipes so I guess $1.25 per use is not too bad to fight the vile nirus and keep those little buggers away from me, but I wish I didn't have to use so many to get the job done.
Recommended. They kept me mosquito bite free all day and were easy to use. I would imagine they would be good for protecting kids but they contain deet which I think is bad for kids (right?)
