CuisinArt Ice Cream Maker - ICE 20 —

My husband and I enjoy ice cream. Okay, he LOVES ice cream. When we first got married we had a gift card for Bed Bath and Beyond. We went looking around the store. He was begging for an ice cream maker.
I thought about it and set up a couple rules if I said yes. First, no more store bought. Second, not using whole milk or heavy cream for ice cream making every time. He agreed to the terms.
So, we bought the Cuisine Art Automatic Ice Cream Maker.
We got it home and we excitedly opened the package. There is a main base which holds the outlet plug and an on/off switch. Then there is the tub, which gets frozen and holds the ice cream mixture. Next, there is a white round spatula-like contraption that does the actual turning. Last, there is a clear plastic lid that holds it all together. The package also came with a set of instructions and some good basic recipes to start making ice cream.
After opening the new gadget, I read a basic recipe. We made chocolate ice cream the first time. We ran to the grocery store and purchassed the necessary ingredients.
We went to make the mixture and soon realized that the tub needs to be completely frozen. We figured it would take about 2-3hours. We were quite wrong. It actually takes about a good 24 hours to freeze completely. The tub when shaken shouldn't make any noise.
So we waited the 24 hours and then made some ice cream. The recipe was easy to follow and quick to make. We set the mixture in the tub and turned the switch to on. We set the time for about 30 minutes. It takes anywhere from 30-40 minutes.
Once it was done we moved it to a tuperware container and then needed to finish freezing it. It was ready in about 2 hours.
The machine makes pretty good ice cream. Its very quick and easy to make. The tub cleans up well. We only wish it made a bit more ice cream and the tub froze quicker. Other than that this is a very good ice cream maker. Much better thanthe hand crankers!
