Finding ice cream that is low in lactose, for those of us who can't tolerate it, has been a challenge. (Bryers makes a version in Vanilla only that is 99% lactose free). So i decided to try making my own ice cream at home.
This ice cream maker did a fine job of making me a treat that I could enjoy.
Follow the directions closely though as to how full to fill the container, my first batch was too big and overflowed from the machine as it froze--a big mess.
Also don't expect to make ice cream right away when you open the box, the bowl must be frozen first, then re-frozen to make another batch. This is the one issue I have with it. Somehow I was expecting it to be part of the process that machine handled. Also, since I have to keep the bowl frozen, it takes up lots of room in my freezer. The only other things are that you have to dirty another bowl to pre-mix the milk and the sugar and the thing is very noisy. I have to put it in the laundry room if I expect to hear the TV in the family room that adjoins the kitchen.
But that is a small price to pay for being able to whip up healthy, creamy ice cream in just 25 minutes. I'm happy I bought it.
