The first time that I used this cuisinart ice cream and yogurt maker, I had an unmitigated disaster. I thought that lemon sherbert would be a light dessert for my company dinner. For some reason, the slushy mixture never froze. I turned it into a container and put it in the freezer. It then became as hard as a rock and difficult to serve. There is definitely a learning curve to working with the machine.
I have since tried recipes that include instant pudding and they work quite. well.
The cuisinart ice cream maker has a very small capacity. The recipe book comes with only a few recipies, so it is necessary to work with recipies that were designed for a regular 4 - 5 quart ice cream maker and reduce the quantities. Good points include the fact that you do not need to use the salt and ice pack as the product is freezing. Of course, you do not need to hand crank as in the wonderful old hand machines. I keep the freezing container in the freezer at all times so that it is ready at a moments notice. It is convenient to be able to prepare the ice cream or frozen yogurt and have it ready in 25 or 30 minutes for a soft serve product.
I wish the company would make this ice cream/yogurt maker with a larger capacity.
