If you like freshly ground coffee in the morning with no effort involved other than waking up, this is the horse right here.  You load it up with beans in the grinder apparatus, pour in the water, insert the filter, turn on the timer, and voila!  Freshly ground coffee upon awakening.  It's a solidly...

I've had my Cuisenart Grind & Brew thermal carafe coffee maker (insert Tim Taylor grunts here!) for about 4 years now. It works well enough and since I have a 16 yr old daughter to do the dishes, cleaning is not an issue!

HOWEVER...if I had it to do over I definitely would select another unit. For...

We received the Cuisinart Grind & Brew Thermal Coffee Maker as a Christmas present from my sister.  I enjoy a latte mug or two of coffee in the morning but I'm by no means picky about coffee making machines or beans.  Folger's has always been good enough for me.   My boyfriend, on the other hand, had been pining for freshly-ground coffee and he's impossible to shop for, so she jumped on the opportunity and bought it for him.  I've been living with this coffee maker for over 6 months now and I have to say that I really don't like it.

Although the Cuisinart Grind & Brew Thermal Coffee Maker...

The Good:  For those of you who love freshly ground beans, the Cuisinart Grind & Brew Thermal Coffeemaker grinds your coffee beans just before brewing.   It looks nice on a counter top - black with stainless steel.   It is a really easy coffee maker to use - and cleaning isn't a hassle (most parts are dishwasher safe).  It has a timer, so you can set it to brew before you wake-up.  From my perspective, the coolest feature is that you can poor a cup of coffee while it's still brewing and the coffee will automatically stop dripping (it's called the ‘Brew Pause' feature).

The Bad:  The stainless...

In defense of the Cuinsinart Grind & Brew, I have had mine for a few years. It was great for the first part but within the last couple years it has taken to clogging & overflowing onto the countertop. I can't locate where the clog is happening even after dissecting the machine & washing each bit. It happens again & again & again.  It's very frustrating & VERY messy. You really have to stay on top of cleaning it or it totally fails. And sometimes you can clean the thing out & the next pot will go all over the countertop!

The coffee from the Grind & Brew Thermal also doesn't stay as hot as I would...

A friend bought me the Cuisinart Grind & Brew Thermal Coffee Maker last Christmas after she was sick of me complaining about my old coffee maker's leaky and hard-to-clean carafe. It's probably the only holiday gift that I am still using; I love it!! It solves all my old coffee problems. It is so stylish, like all Cuisinart items, but more importantly, it works. I use this thing every day and have never had a problem (7 months into owning it). Since I normally buy ground coffee, I don't use the coffee grinder feature very often, but it works very well and makes the process of brewing a pot of coffee...

Got this as a present for my father. When my Krups coffee maker began to drip he offered me his Cuisinart! Of course I agreed that I would put it to good use and I do.

Nice that it's programmable and even works as a psychological alarm clock knowing that I have a hot pot of coffee to wake up to (plus the sound of the grinder is loud enough for me to hear in my bedroom). Even has an option for only 1-4 cups if you're making a smaller pot. And the internal grinder makes my old coffee grinder obsolete!

Is not that hard to clean... just rinse out the coffee grounds and toss the rest of the parts in...

At first I used this coffee maker to make freshly ground coffee.  The coffee tasted great, but there were always grounds in the bottom of the pot so I couldn't drink the last 1/2 cup in the pot.  I got tired of washing all the parts every day and I don't have a dishwasher, so I have to wash them by hand.  So, I started using it to make coffee without using the grinder.  There are less parts to wash, and sometimes I just take the parts out of the machine and let them dry out in between making coffee.  But, there are still grounds in my coffee, what's the deal with that?  I never had that happen...

I have the glass instead of the stainless steel carafe, but am in love with my new Cuisinart Grind and Brew! It truly does wake me up. This is both good and bad. The sound of the grinder when I have it programmed does tend to startle me out of my slumber. This is also good because I know that I will be enjoying a fine cup of freshly ground, brewed coffee in only minutes of rolling out of the bed.
There are times I have pre-ground coffee I like to brew, so it's nice to have the option, both on the spot and through programming I can choose either to grind or not.
You really can't ask for too much more...

This is one of the worst purchases I've made in my 66 years.  Grinder is too loud.  No selection of grinds (ie:  course, medium, fine).  Too many parts to disassemble and put in the dishwasher after each use.  Pause to pour feature allows coffee to continue to drip while you've removed the carafe.  I had owned a Melita Grind & Brew for 10+ years and just  thought maybe I should pick up a new machine.  The name Cuisinart and a persuasive salesperson at Williams-Sonoma convinced me to buy this one.  IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP!  Don't buy a grind and brew if you can't buy a Melita.

The Cuisinart Automatic coffee pot is great. This comes with a self-grinder. You can not get coffee any fresher. The thermal pot stays warm hours after making. My husband makes the coffee at 5:30 am and I get up around 9:30 am to have a fresh, warm cup of coffee. Also, very easy to use. All parts clean in the dishwasher. Love this pot!

I've had my Cuisinart Grind & Brew Thermal coffee maker for over 5 years. There's a lot to like about this coffee maker, and a few nit-picky things that rank about 6 on the headache meter.

I really like the ability to grind and brew all in one countertop unit. It saves taking up counter space or having to dig in the cupboard for a separate grinder.

I also really like the thermal carafe. It does a fantastic job of keeping the coffee hot until it's gone. I've had hot coffee from the carafe HOURS after it was brewed, with no burnt odor or flavor that you'd have with a glass carafe left on a heat...

This is a wonderful coffee maker. It has a few problems but this is outweighed by its positive attributes.

When we program the coffee maker to come on in the morning, we have sometimes found coffee all other the counter and floor. It seems if the carafe is not exactly right in the coffee maker it will run out the filter and not all the coffee will make it into the carafe.

We have also found that sometimes the coffee grounds get into the pot. We use the permanent filter, so the paper filter folding over is not the issue. We can't figure out why this happens occasionally.

In addition, the grinder is...

My wife has been using this now for some time and is very pleased with it.

It is very easy to load and the timer is easy to use.

Cleaning is very easy as well.

The coffee brewed is excellent (so she tells me).

She brews ground coffee and beans as well.

She had another unit but she much prefers this one.

She prefers "Cuisinart" appliances to other brands (mainly because they're more expensive and she equates price with quality regardless of brand).

Myself I don't see the difference in this unit over the other unit she was using.

I personally prefer the other unit which we still have and...
