I bought the Cuisinart Frozen Yogurt - Ice Cream and Sorbet Maker originally to save money. Money for ice cream atthe grocery store just wasn't in the budget. And forget about trips to the Baskin Robbins on the corner!
I soon discovered that what I really love about this ice cream maker is controlling the ingredients. I use fresh fruit and sugar substitutes for delicious ice cream in 20 minutes. I use the recipes included from Cuisinart. There is a wide assortment of recipes for ice cream, frozen yogurts and sorbet. I keep a couple different flavors in the freezer all of the time.
My husband said it was like the quesadilla maker and would be collecting dust after the novelty wore off. He was wrong, I use it all year round at least once a month. More often in the summer.
Only negative thing I have to say is that I need to keep the freezer bowl in the freezer all of the time which takes up valuable freezer space. If you don't keep the bowl frozen, it takes overnight to freeze before making ice cream.
