I'm still learning how to cook, so I'm really not all that hard on kitchen appliances. When the 10-Cup Oster Food Processor that I owned gave up the ghost after about a year, I was surprised and very disappointed. I asked very little of that particular device and was annoyed that it self-destructed so quickly. When it came time to create a bridal registry, I added the Cuisinart DLC-2011 Food Processor.
This Cuisinart Food Processor is impressive as it has an 11-cup capacity, an extra-wide feed tube, and "dough technology" to adjust mixing speeds when you are making dough. It has a standard pureeing blade, a slicing blade, and a shredding blade. I've used my DLC-2011 to puree chick peas into hummus, to puree basil into pesto, to slice beets and carrots, and to shred kohlrabi, callalou greens, and beet greens. Everything I've asked this food processor to do, it has handled without any issue. Cleanup is easy as the bowl, feed tube, and blades all go into the dishwasher. The only thing you have to do by hand is wipe the base with a damp cloth.
Speaking of the base, I added it to my registry sight-unseen based on the picture of it on the Bed, Bath, & Beyond web site. I assumed for $179.99 I was getting a food processor with a stainless steel or brushed stainless base. Wrong. The Cuisinart DLC-2011 Food Processor has a plastic base that is painted light silver. Frankly, it looks kind of cheap. Appearance aside, I've been very happy with this Cuisinart Food Processor and would buy it again if I needed to based on my experience with it thus far. Recommended!
