That said, there is one thing I ABSOLUTELY HATE about it - one of the safety features! The "pusher" cup HAS to be inserted the correct way before the thing will run! That gets a BIG thumbs down from me! I'm sorry, but I don't always want it in there to run the stupid thing - I'm not always pushing something in. For this reason alone I might be tempted to buy a different model (I didn't fully research them before I asked for this one--I just knew I wanted an 11 cup Cuisinart).
I only used this machine maybe once every other month on average (if that). So imagine my surprise when after I used the machine and went to wash it, I noticed a small metal rod in the sink, and then I noticed that the handle of the bowl assembly was falling apart!! My stepdad was able to piece it all back together, and temporarily held it with scotch tape. Since it was still working, I didn't want to spend the $94 on the work bowl replacement kit. I used it again after that with no problems.
Fast forward to the next time I went to use it, when I pulled it out to make pesto. I twisted the bowl off the base to rinse it out and something popped out of place on the handle and I could not get the bowl back on the base - there was some metal piece sticking out that would not budge, no matter what I tried. Well, since I was in the middle of making pesto, I ran to the store and bought the cheaper 7-cup model for $99 - just a few dollars more than what it would cost to replace just the work bowl assembly on the other machine.
I haven't decided yet what I am going to do with the 11-cup Cuisinart (just have the base unit and blades), but I have to say I am EXTREMELY disappointed in it. I thought Cuisinart was a great brand name, something to last for 20 years. But it didn't even last four years of less than light use!
Overall, however, I still give it three stars, because when it worked, it was a workhorse--and the 11-cup capacity was wonderful.![]() |
