Don't purchase this bread maker. I am on my second machine in just eight months, and I will not be returning this one if it breaks again. The drive motor system does not have enough power to mix the dough correctly. This means that you must watch the mixing of the dough and continue to add water at a slow rate until the machine will work correctly. This will than add to much water to the mixture which will cause the bread not to bake correctly. After nine months of this the motor finely fails and no more bread.

So you call and they send you a new unit, you pay $10 for them to send it out UPS. You must return the old unit so you take it back to UPS and they want $20 to send it back. Now your unit that is only nine moths old has cost you a further $30.

The new unit has the same problem so will probly only last for a further nine months and I'll be out another $30.

Now some other things that are wrong with this bread maker.

  • è As many reviewers have indicated, the machine tends to burn the loaves and the loaves do not rise very well.
  • è They have a mix in button. God only knows why, the light is always on, the button serves no purpose. If you do want to mix stuff in you got to be next to the unit when the buzzer goes.
  • è The paddle does not reach the ingredients on the side of the machine you actually have to scraped down the sides in the knead cycle to get everything mixed in.
  • è You can only use the light cycle because the bread will burn on the other two settings. My impression is that the thermostat is set too high in these machines, and, unfortunately is not adjustable in the standard baking cycles.
  • è Trying to make a two pound loaf is darn near impossible.

The machine looks nice in its stainless-steel dressing, but the manufacturing isn't the greatest. The handles on the side are plated plastic, not metal, and the parts that are metal feel like they could cut your hand if you touched them wrong, particularly the lid handle and the pan retaining clips inside.

I believe that Cuisinart did not test these units well in production or after manufacture because the problems arrived immediately. I also believe that the convection fan mechanism would be the first part to fail in any new working unit

In general this machine is just not worth the money. There are better ones out there.
