I have an older model of this excellent drip coffee maker from the good people at Cuisinart, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Whether you're brewing freshly ground organic Sumatran or something off of the grocery store shelf, the Brew Central will bring out the best in your coffee. Thanks to its gold-mesh filter, there is no need for those pesky paper filters that inevitably add the taste of wet newspaper to your morning eye-opener.
I can vouch for the durability of this machine, as I have been making coffee on it most every morning for the past five years, and it still works as well as it did on day one. I've long since used up the replacable water filters that came with the unit, but since we use ultra-filtered water at our house, I haven't had to buy a replacement.
There is a handy auto-timer that allows you to load the ground beans and water ahead of time, so that you wake up to the heavenly aroma of fresh coffee.
Although I haven't used this year's model, if it's anywhere near as good as this one, I give it five stars. And although a previous reviewer paid $110 for one, it can be found for less than fifty bucks.
