Good for some things

I have mixed reviews on this toaster oven. I grew up having a toaster oven and loved it. Got my own house and wanted one for myself, it is super convenient. Heats up quickly and doesn't heat up the whole house. However, I cannot seem to keep this thing from burning my food. I cook a lot and never have trouble with my regular oven, with this I just can't get it right. I simply gave up on using it. Maybe I should try another brand? I am not sure if I would recommend this product. Even Heating It seems as though whatever I cook with this will usually end up burnt somehow. I watch the time carefully and follow cooking instructions and no matter what I do, it cooks faster than expected. Safety I have had no safety issues with this product. Ease of Cleaning Mine was clean as a whistle (might be because I didn't use it that often). No, seriously, it was easy to wipe out real quick and always looked nice. Durability I have had mine for over 4 years and have not had one single problem with it. Design Looks nice sitting out. This is actually the only appliance I keep on my counter.

Ok for basic toasting but wouldn't recommend it beyond that

I had this toaster for about a year before I decided to purchase a different model because it was not performing well any longer. If you are just looking for something to make your family's morning toast, this toaster oven is probably a fine choice. It says it fits 6 slices, and it does, though it is a tight fit and I find everything toasts more evenly when you use 4 slices at most. It took me a little trial and error to figure out the best number settings to use to get the degree of toasting I wanted correct - All my previous toasters used a timer toast knob so you could tell how long it had toasted by watching the dial "tick." With this unit, you pick a number setting, hit the ON button and then wait for the toaster to beep that it is done - no way of knowing how much "progress" has been made. Because of the lack of timer, you have to set your own for using the oven function as well. I only used it sparingly for small things like baked potatoes so I didn't find that too inconvenient. I ended up getting a different toaster though because this one seemed to decline pretty quickly. Toasting became more uneven and preheating took longer. I'm really picky about eating toast and waffles that aren't at all burnt, so I decided to replace this unit. Ease of Cleaning Crumb tray is a bit hard to get out without spilling

Frustrating Customer Service

We haven't had any trouble with the cooking features of our Cuisinart Toaster Oven. The toasting, convenction, and reheat all work perfectly. It is a bit slow for a toaster oven, but does the job well. The size works great for everything we need it for. However, we have encountered a very frustrating problem. When the toaster was still almost new, the print started wearing off of the dials. Now, after more months of use, the print is completely and totally gone. You cannot see the temperature or the setting AT ALL. Guests who come over have no idea how to use it. We only know because we remember the settings. We have tried contacting the company, but Cuisinart only offered to replace it if we ship it back to them. We were unwilling to do so because of how high the shipping would be from our pocket. Really disappointed in Cuisinart, especially for the higher price on this toaster. It appears they have corrected the problem on the newer toasters, but I expected better service from this company.

Best toaster oven I ever owned!

I use this handy toaster oven nearly daily for everything from toasting home made garlic bread to french fries, baking muffins, potatos, meat (when I wasn't a vegetarian), and now my vegetarian little meat replacement items like morning star chik'n buffalo wings or patties. It cooks quickly and evenly (though muffins you may want to flip the tray around in the middle to ensure browning on all at an even rate). I find it runs about 25F degrees hotter than stated so if I always reduce the temperature by 25F and have had no problems with items burning. I am so glad I bought this - the 6 slice is so worth it! It also looks very attractive and is easy to clean. My top still looks shiny despite me not spending a lot of effort on cleaning the exterior. This is a perfect purchase for a single or couple where you will only be making a few of any one item. I rarely want to waste the money and time to heat up my big oven for something like a chick'n patty or french fries or even garlic bread so I think this is great for both the cost and time savings!

Love my cuisinart Toaster Oven

My mom bought this toaster oven about 5 years ago for Christmas. I use it pretty much every day. Obviously we all know that Cuisinart is a great product. I also have a blender, a slow cooker, a can opener and a rice cooker by cuisinart. Their products are very reliable. It's great. It really works like a mini oven. You can bake, reaheat, broil. It's exactly what I wanted. It doesn't take a long time to heat up. I would say the only thing that broke or is not working since I got it, is the toaster button. I push on it but it doesn't stay on. But that is no problem as I just use the bake option to make my toasts and it works just as well. I don't think the toaster part not working is a fault of cuisinart though. I never checked into it. All and all I'm very satisfied with it. I live alone so for small meals, it's easier to just use the toaster over to reheat instead of the big oven. I definetely recommend it.

***I have used a few other toaster ovens , and this one is the tops. My daughter had another brand and it caught on fire. Needless to say I do think I will stick to the Cuisinart. Seems like all there products are long lasting and made great.*** I know they cost a little more but in the end they last a long time. It pays for itself. **It takes the place of a toaster, so you have more room on your counter.**

Cuisinart Toaster Oven is great for small jobs

4

My Mom gave me the Cuisinart Toaster Oven for Christmas a few years ago.  I wasn't sure I wanted or even needed a toaster oven.  But once I learned to use it I learned to love it.  I bake chicken, pizza, dips and small casseroles.  I think the name toaster gives some people a false sense of it's capabilities.  It is more like a mini oven.  The oven is easy to clean and heats to the proper temperature in seconds.  It also uses less electricty than the conventional oven.  The only downside is finding the proper sized dishes or pans to fit inside the toaster oven.  I would recommend this for anyone, especially a single person or couple.  It would be a wonderful gift for a wedding or Christmas.  I wish it was much easier to store.  I don't use it much during the summer months, unless it is hot outside, so it takes an entire cupboard shelf to store it.  It also is a wonderful price for a Cuisinart.

Great performance for the price

We bought this as a clearance item at one of the major retailers about 6 months ago after our conventional toaster failed us time and time again. This oven has turned out to be one of our favorites in the house. It cooks very consistenly and evenly each time we use it. Even better, it was half the price of our conventional Cuisinart toaster oven. The toaster is very simple to program and it's very easy to see how the toasting is coming along through the glass. It's obviously much larger than our conventional toaster and not as easy to store, but it's a tradeoff we were willing to accept given the efficient performance. For the price, I don't think there's a better toaster on the market today.

door won't close

When choosing a toaster oven for our wedding registry, we noticed that many models on display had doors that were part open at rest, and were difficult/impossible to force closed.  This particular model did not have that problem in the store model, and we felt confident in the brand name, so we chose it.  For maybe the first year, we had no problems, but all of a sudden one day our toaster's door suddenly had to be maneuvered with precision (and patience!) to get it closed.  That is just way too much frustration for a piece of toast!  After many times of enduring the agony of closing the toaster, I realized that it would still function without the door being entirely closed.  That lessens the frustration, but does not leave me comfortable using the toaster regularly.  So, now we basically have a rarely used small appliance taking up valuable counter space.  Writing this makes me think I may just junk the toaster and stick to oven and microwave for all cooking and reheating.  I'd rather have more counter space than an occasional piece of toast.
