Cuisinart Coffeemaker

We've owned this model for over a year now. It has continued to work reliably and brews a very tasty pot of coffee. The thermal carafe works wonderfully and will keep your coffee hot all day if you are a slow but continuous coffee drinker. We did run into a problem after a couple of months. we'd done our normal cleaning of the system and the lid of the pot is a challenge to get clean. It eventually had too much build up and wouldn't allow the coffee to flow into the pot quickly enough and caused spills on the counter. This was easily fixed by running it through the dishwasher every couple of weeks. The beep indicating the "coffee is made" is loud enough to act as a backup alarm clock in the morning if you set it to brew at the same time as your alarm is scheduled. Overall a very good coffee maker.

Keeps the coffee warm almost all day!

We really love this coffee maker, and so far it has lasted longer than most we have had. We use paper filters in it, and use it on a daily basis. We also have very hard (lime) water here, and so far that has not affected the performance. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee warm for a good long time, although the pouring is a little sketchy. If the top is not screwed on exactly right, it goes all over the place. And I mean EXACLTY, precisely centered to the spout, and my vision is not good enough to gauge it, so I just take the top off to pour. It has a nice, loud beeper to tell you the coffee is ready as well.

Cuisinart does coffee well!

My husband and I have not been disappointed with this machine. The ease of programming makes this a helpful appliance in our kitchen (we have to get up early every morning and having the coffee start itself makes it possible that we can enjoy it every morning). We have never had any problems with functionality nor with anything breaking. The only thing that is a little cumbersome is the filters that have to be purchased. They can get a little expensive, especially since we change them out more often than recommended due to how often we use the machine. It's an easy clean as well. We put a solution of 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar through the machine and it cleans it nicely.

Great coffee maker

Works great and is reliable. Brew Performance Brews coffee perfect every day. Ease of Cleaning Have not cleaned it yet, but I dont think it will be very difficult. Ease of Use Very easy to use. Design This is the only draw back to this coffee maker. The craft is difficult to pour once you have used half the coffee in it. Durability No problems with durability.

Good!

I bought this as a gift for my husband and overall, it is very good. He loves that it can be programmed and alerts you when it is done. The down side, as other reviews have pointed out is that there is not outside water level gauge to know how much water. We also had the issue of the water spilling down the sides during brewing, but after following the directions for cleaning, we have not had that problem since (we also had to ensure the pot was in and turned correctly). Brew Performance the coffee tastes great. Ease of Cleaning As mentioned we had one issue but a proper cleaning fixed it. Ease of Use very intuitive Design sleek and modern Durability has done a great job

great coffee pot

I love the coffee pot, because it keeps the coffee hot in its metal carafe, and is unbreakable.  I have had to replace many coffee makers b/c the carafe breaks or another part of the pot breaks off and is too expensive to replace.  I have had this for 6 months now and love waking up to brewed coffee that is also not sitting and getting stale or burnt on a hot plate.     The only criticism I have though, and it is somewhat important, is that there is no outside water gauge.  I don't know how much coffee I am making without peering into a small dark chamber.  That is most provoking.  If they fixed that I would give the coffee maker a perfect 10.   Ease of Use see above criticism for reason it only has a 3 rating. but the rest of the pot features are excellent

Cuisinart DCC-1150 coffee maker didn't live up to the reputation

1

We purchased the Cuisinart DCC-1150 because of Cuisinart's reputation for high quality and I wanted a stainless steel carafe to keep the coffee warm for a longer period of time.  When our Black and Decker died, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. For the first 3 months it worked like a charm and kept the coffee hot. FANTASTIC. Then water started leaking from the lid and down the side of the carafe.  I followed the manufacture instructions for running the cleaning cycle and still no luck.  I contacted Customer Service and they said they were sending out a new lid and basket piece right away since it is under warrenty. I was given an order number and was told we would have it in 7-10 days.  After 3 weeks I called and talked to a rep again who said it was on the way, another week passed and I called again and was given a UPS tracking number. UPS said they needed info from Cuisinart and could not deliver.  The rep even gave me his name and direct line to give to Cuisinart. I contacted Cuisinart again and the rep said that there was nothing she could do. I spoke w/ a supervisor and gave her the information from UPS. The supervisor said she would have the rep look into it but don't expect a call back anytime soon as it could be a week or more because they are helping other customers. I felt very discouraged and annoyed that I wasn't treated as a valued customer. I emailed the company and an internet customer service rep contacted me 3 days later and set up a new order for the lid and basket piece. A week later, I got a black basket and a white lid. While I absolutely appreciated that they sent a new order, I specifically stated I have a black and stainless steel model.  I contacted them and am now waiting for a new black lid, which will hopefully solve the problem.  I am sadly disappointed in the product and extremely disapointed with Cuisinart's customer service.  I cannot in good conscience recommend this product to another person and I will not be purchasing other products from this company.

No more wasted coffee

My husband and I both love this coffemaker.  It is so simple to use, and we use it everyday.  We love that we can program it the night before to start brewing at the time we wake up each morning.  I love that there is not a hot plate/burner on this model.  The coffee brews straight to a thermal caraffe.  I never have to worry whether or not I have turned off the coffee maker.  Once it brews, there is nothing to shut off.  Because it brews to a caraffe, there is no burnt coffee.  Also, the coffee that we don't finish with breakfast is still warm when I come home in the evenings from work...still tasting fresh, and no burnt taste.  It has a digital clock, auto program, and self cleaning option.  There is a replaceable water filter packet which keeps the water tasting purified.  If you choose to make less than a full pot, there is a button you can press, so that the water will be heated at a different temperature, according to the amount you brew.  It is easy to fill with new cofffee each brew.  The only thing I can think of about this machine that I don't like is that it is a little difficult to pour in the water without spilling it down the side.  I have found that to be the case with most coffee makers.  Regardless, we have had this machine for about 2 years, and I don't plan to replace it any time soon.  We love it.

It makes good coffee, But...

I nursed my Krups coffee maker for a few months after it started to periodically leak and finally decided to find a new one. I read a lot of reviews and decided one of the Cuisinarts was worth a try. I selected the 1150 because it had a stainless steel carafe that was supposed to keep the coffee warm without running a warming plate and ending up with the burn taste if I waited an hour between cups of coffee. The 1150 makes good, smooth tasting coffee. But here are cople gripes I have with the design. 1 - The coffee cold be hotter. I put boiling water in the carafe before brewing coffee so that it warms the carafe up a little. 2 - The plastic coffee filter holder will not stand up on its own. A small gripe but still a bit inconvenient. People who design coffee makers should see that each step is as convenient as possible. 3 - Here's my big complaint. I'm lefthanded. It is very hard to pour water in the 1150. Even righthanded the lid of the machine only lifts to 90 degrees and is in the way of the large stainless carafe. For a left handed person it's even more difficult. The area where the water goes into is fairly small given the size of the machine. So I guess I'm going to have to use another container besides the carafe to fill the machine.   I like to recommend things I buy because I spend a lot of time researching my purchases. Besides the 1150 making good coffee, the design shortcomings really won't allow me to recommend it. Unless you can deal with the poor design items I have noted.

A coffee maker I can rely on all day

4

I hate having to make coffee and although it's pretty easy with the use of a maker, I still get lazy and don't want to have to replace the filter, fill it up with grinds, add the water, etc. With this coffee maker, I can make one large batch in the morning and it lasts me all day. It keeps the coffee hot and it doesn't make it taste stale like coffee that's gone cold and then was reheated. I love the settings on this thing, you can program it to start at any time and all im left to do is prepare it for "take off". My only gripe is that it doesn't let you add a lot of coffee grounds at once for storage, so that you can make multiple batches of coffee for a while but use the required amount of coffee grounds when it needs it.
