When I first tried Crystal Light Iced Tea, I loved it so much so that I no longer wanted Nestea, Lipton, or any other powered mix. The downside was that I could only make Crystal Light in the gallon sizs unlike Nestea or Lipton which I could make by the cup. Then one day a coworker showed me the light! Crystal Light On The GO packets allowed me to turn a plain old bottle of water into a tasty drink.
The Packets
The one I bought was 10 packets for $2.99. That comes out to 29 cents a serving. It's not horrible, but it's still more expensive than it would be to buy those sugary drinks suck as kool-aid and Nestea. My cafeteria sells them for more than that so it's a much better deal if you buy your own box. The packets are very small and you wouldn't believe there is enough powder in there to fill an entire bottle, but there is! Each packet opens very easily by ripping at the notched top.
How it Works
Once you open your packet, just pour it into a cold bottle of water, put the lid on, and shake. That's the fun part :) The powder dissolves quickly and your water will turn colors so you know it worked.
The Taste
I am addicted to the Raspberry Ice flavor but I am also a fan of the Iced Tea flavor. You can also get Peach Tea and Lemonadewhich I don't think I've tried. The drink tastes soooooo good! You would think there is tons of sugar in it, but you know that the packet was so small there couldn't possibly be that much. It fools me and I'm a sugar addict, so you know it must be good.
Let's Compare
In the old days, I'd make a 16oz glass of Nestea and have to put in 2-3 tablespoons in order to make it tasty enough for me. A 16oz serving had at least 30g of sugar and 120 calories. I say "at least" because I usually put in more powder than recommended.
Now I take a 16oz bottle of water and add in this tiny package that can't be bigger than one teaspoon. Which is healthier? The answer is obvious if you ask me! They split their servings into 8oz sizes but even if you drink the whole bottle at once it is not bad at all. That adds up to 10 calories, 0 fat, 0 carbs, 0 sugars! How can you possibly go wrong?
WARNING!
The Raspberry Ice flavor can turn your lips red! Make sure the product is fully dissolved before drinking and you should be ok. I was really thirsty once and drank without really mixing. As soon as the powder touched my lips, they were stained red for the rest of the day. Now I use a straw when I can just to be safe.
Buy it NOW!
Go to your local grocery store and stock up on this now. I don't drink it everyday, maybe once a week for some variety. I mix it in my Ice Mountain water bottle which I just love! Buy a box for work, another for your purse, and another for your kids lunches. Enjoy!!
