Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon —

Winning four academy awards (best foreign language film, best cinematography, best art direction, best original score) Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is not a movie to be missed. Beautifully choreographed (Yuen Wo Ping), this film is a dance.

Storyline: Chow Yun Fat plays Li Mu Bai and Michelle Yeoh plays Shu Lien, two master warriors who are both wanting for quieter days. But when the coveted Green Destiny sword (one that makes any skilled fighter impossible to defeat) is stolen, they must retrieve it. They soon discover the great fighting skills of a young aristocrat (Zhang Ziyi) who is soon to be in an arranged marriage. She is a women who would rather be running free and answering to no man. A secret love and not too long ago past emerges. The two warriors want to help this young fighter and set out on a gripping and fierce trail.

Perks: Action packed and exhilarating, this is easily one of the best foreign movies ever made. Based on the book the great story and intriguing characters suck you in. Ang Lee is a master in directing. The film boasts a superb soundtrack with cello solos by Yo-Yo Ma. The choreography and music play so well together there are times that you feel that you could be there in the movie. The fight scenes are like an intimate dance between lovers. Even if you don't like reading subtitles, it is worth it just to watch the artistry in this movie and listen to the music.
