Cross is the twelfth in a series of books by novelist James Patterson about FBI agent Alex Cross. Earlier in the series we learn Cross is a former Washington DC homicide detective as well as a forensic psychologist. This installment begins with Alex set to resign from the FBI after the death of his wife by sniper. Cross has built quite a reputation, "Cross, in the course of these novels has become known as the Dragon Slayer for his success at capturing the worst criminals society has." He ultimately investigates a series of rapes and murders and his path crosses that of the man he thinks killed his wife. Though this, like all of Patterson's books, is a quick read, reviewers felt it was complex enough to hold their interest, "There were many twists and turns in this book and it definitely keeps you guessing until the very end" Though not all agreed with that assessment, "The book seemed to be a bit of a reach and simply a place holder for the next in the series." , the vast majority recommend Cross

Quick Read, but predictable plot

This is a typical Patterson book.  A quick read with short chapters.  The character of Dr. Alex Cross has been well developed over the course of many books and this continues a story line from previous works.  The book seemed to be a bit of a reach and simply a place holder for the next in the series. ... review »

This is another easy read by Patterson. While I love to read anything Patterson has written, his Alex Cross books are my favorite. I just purchased Double Cross and can't wait to start that. Cross pulls you in from the start and holds you until the last page, but still leaves you wondering, "did he or didn't he." Patterson is one of the best in his genre. A must read for any mystery fan.

With the newest of the Dr. Alex Cross series, this just adds to the need for more.  It's as if the characters are members of a family with you and you worry about them, grieve with them, celebrate them and end up loving them.  Each book in the series can be read as a separate book, but it is so much better reading them in order.  I have enjoyed Alex very much and look forward to further exploits in future books.  Maybe one day, he'll get married again?  One can only hope for his happiness with women.  I just wish more men treated women as well as he does.  He's a hopeful romantic with a... review »

This is one of the better Alex Cross stories. It ties up some loose ends and explains in much more detail the murder of Alex's wife, Maria, how she died and the thoughts Alex has on who may have done it. The book is fast paced and interesting. At times it is a little to visual with the details of the murders. The Cross family, three children, Alex and Nana, is interesting and real. There were many twists and turns in this book and it definitely keeps you guessing until the very end. It was a page turner until the very last page. Patterson is an easy fast paced read. I loved the book. But the only problem was that this was the second book I had read by James Patterson. So I was lost in the story background. It is definatly a page turner. this book was the first one I picked up in the Cross series, because at the time I didn't know there was a series. So I have now started reading the series in reverse. Big Mistake! LOL. I have to get the rest till I pick them all up at once and read until I am done. But for being the first one to read out of the series it was great, I would recommend to any one. Just start at the beginning. LOL

  this is  one of  James  pattersons   better  books  he has  written  it  features    det.  cross and   is  a never ending  story    of  how  his  wife  was  shot     how  he   raised the kids  with  a nannies  help and  how he  solved the    murder of his  wife  it is  action packed  from the  first page

I have read all of James Patterson's Alex Cross books and CROSS is one of the best he's written yet. Will Alex ever catch the killer of his murdered wife? And will Alex ever find a girlfriend he can keep? These are only 2 of the many questions that have gone through my mind over the years of reading James Patterson's Alex Cross mysteries.  There were many twists and turns in this book and it definitely keeps you guessing until the very end.  It was a page turner until the very last page, I loved it.

This was the second James Patterson book I had ever read, since I have alomost all of his books, I keep up with him. He has great books, and the are quick reads. I love the fact that the chapters are only a few pages long, because I am not strapped in one seat for a long chapter when I really need to get up and do something. And not saying "hold on let me finish this chapter" lol. Anyways this was the first Cross series book I have read and it was great. I have now started the entire series. It is worth picking up.

I first became hooked on James Patterson several years ago, when I first read Rose Are Red.  My Aunt and I exchange books all the time, and she gave me that book as a gift.  And Once I started it, I could not put it down.  I anxiously await for all of James Pattersons new releases.  Cross was outstanding as usually, but I am on the edge of me seat waiting for the follow up Double Cross!!  AS I am sure it will be another page turner!

i typically read all true crime books.  but my grandmother turned me on to james patterson.  after reading his first alex cross book, i was hooked.  this is by far one of the best in the series.  these books are quick and easy to read because the chapters are short and you can just blow through them in no time.  to anyone who hasn't checked out the cross series, i would definitely recommend it.

    Cross as always with James Patterson gives you a page turner from beginning to end. Alex Cross once again teams up with his long time friend John Sampson on a quest to finally find the truth about what who really killed his wife. Alex Cross uses his psychiatrist background that always seems to do the trick. It's a thriller from beginning to end, no one would expect less from James Patterson.

James Patterson with rock you.  He is terrific,  Cross is absolutly exciting and he comes back at your with a sequel that is even better if thats possible.  I have read every one of his books, which is alot. about 35 plus and i have yet to be disappointed by any of them.   Never a dull story.  He is the best author i have ever read.  I truly love him.

I picked up my first Patterson book late last year, and well I feel like an idiot because of the fact that this was my first one to read. Although did not realize that it was part of a series, but was will to keep on and I loved the book, now I have begun the seies from the beginning. So needless to say it was worth picking up and reading. A quick read, read the book in about 2 days.

James patterson is a great writer. I have read All the books he's written that include Alex Cross! They are a MUST read! They are action packed, suspensful, keep you going on the edge adventures! When I was going through hard times I read those books to escape everyday stresses of life an I definately recommend the Alex Cross and theMurder wives club books!
