I had been wanting some Crocs Beach Shoes. There are a lot of rave reviews on them. It sounds terrific to have water proof shoes that can be worn at the beach, pool or even out gardening. Heck, I even like the way they look. They're kind of funky looking, and I like unsual items.

The problem with the Crocs is that they are uni-sex and built for average feet. This means they are wide. My feet are long and narrow. This is a problem in many shoe lines and especially so with Crocs.

Fortunately I did not buy Crocs. I wore my aunt's. She said to slip them on to run out to the truck to get the groceries. Her house has a deck and a flight of stairs. Did I mention that it was snowing at the time? Well, you can guess. I fell - not once but twice. The shoes are not meant to be worn on snow I'm sure, and then they're wide and slide on my feet too. This was not a good plan at all. I had the bruises to prove it.

If you have narrow feet, forget Crocs. Well, maybe they will come out with some slimmer made ones. The standard fit is both high and wide, and I walk right out of Crocs (even with the heel sling).

I think they do run big and wide. I have a fat little foot and normally wear a size 6 but had to buy the XS which is a 4-5 as the size 6 just felt too big and floppy. I love Crocs though. They're so ugly they're cute!

My oldest son has wide feet and the younger one has narrow feet. The one with wider feet likes Nike slip ons for the pool and garden. The younger one would rather wear no shoes at all (-:

I checked some more Crocs, but they are all running too wide for my feet. I am seeing variations though. Wish they marked them on width.

I should say that my son definitely has wide feet--- but again, I was so suprised at the variance in sizes. Shocking!

Hi Patty and Jolie,

I'll have to look at some of the other styles then. My aunt's were way too wide and also a pair I tried at Rack Room. They are cool looking shoes. I'd like a pair. Maybe they have some that are more narrow around here. I run into this same thing with boots. To get the length, the tops of the boots end up being huge. I can stick my arm in beside my leg with most boots.

Hi Cyndi!
I have skinny feet but never had a problem with these. The new ballerina flats are amazing and not wide. There are other styles that are less wide as well. The Beaches ARE wide for sure. It took me a while to get used to mine. But so far, no walking outta my shoes :)

When I was at Nordstrom's the other day shopping and I bought my son a pair (who happens to have wide feet), the woman gave me a great tip. She said that some are made in Canada and son in Mexico. Shockingly, even though we had the same size side by side, one was a lot bigger than the other. I wonder if that has something to do with it....
