I received the Cricut last year for Christmas. I am an avid scrap-booker, and really wanted this but the price was pretty steep for something that i just wanted and didnt actually need. They run around $300 for the machine and it comes with one basic cartaridge that includes mostly letters and words. I was excited to get this item and tried it out right away! I love how it cuts in different sizes that you select and is fairly simple to use. I had it working right out of the box in less then 10 minutes.
To use the Cricut you attach a piece of paper or card stock to an adhesive board and click the upload button on the keypad. You select the size you want the Cricut to cut and the thickness of the paper it will be cutting on. Once you decide what you want your Cricut to cut out for you, click the big button on the top! It even has a paper saver for you, so you get the most out of your scrapping paper.
There is a down side to this though as well. The cricut once again is very pricey! And the cartridges although have a nice selection, run about $50 or more dollars a piece. I have only purchased one extra cartridge since getting my Cricut last Christmas. And you have to change each individual cartridge each time you want to use it. There are also many extra hidden costs! The adhesive board, the cutting needle and any tools are all separate after your initial ones that come with the machine. They are also a little expensive for what they are.
Over all its a great tool to have if you love to Scrapbook as much as I do! It makes a nice gift idea too.
